Kerry Collins wants to be Titans 2009 starting QB
Tennessee Titans QB Kerry Collins, who ranks 14th all-time in passing yards, wants to return to the Titans as the starting QB in 2009.
Collins replaced Vince Young, the team's 1st-round pick in 2006, when Young sprained his knee in week 1 against the Jaguars.
Perhaps it's too early to call Young a bust, but he lacks maturity and hasn't made the progress that the Titans should expect from a #3 overall pick.
In the off-season, Young admitted that he thought about quitting playing football.
Early this season, there was the incident where Young disappeared and was rumored to be suicidal. Young admitted to being hurt about being booed, but claims he wasn't suicidal.

"I think I made my case known, that I'd like to be here and feel that I can be a part of several more good seasons and give them several more good years," he said as the Titans finished up their final meetings and left team headquarters. "… I will pack up and go somewhere else. I don't want to, but that's the reality of this business. In 2008, Collins had a QB rating of 80.2 and threw 12 TDs and only 7 INTs. In his young career, Young has thrown 22 TDs and 32 INTs and some consider him a bust.
"I really like it here, my family really likes it in Nashville, and I think that there is something special here that I'd like to be a part of. But there is a business side to it too and if it comes down to it I've got to be able to pack up and move on," he said.

"Kerry has one or two options in my opinion," Fisher said. "He starts, and hopefully that's for us, or he's on his tractor at his farm."Unless Collins is asking for an unreasonable amount, the Titans should bring him back as the starter. While Young may some day reach his potential, the veteran leadership that Collins provides is exactly what this run-first offense needs.
