Bucs clean house and cut Brooks, Galloway, Dunn, etc.

The new leadership in Tampa says "you don't have to go home, but you gotta get the hell outta here" to some Bucs all-time greats.

In a move that should save the team somewhere around $12-$14 million against the salary cap, the Bucs cut LB Derrick Brooks, WR Joey Galloway, RB Warrick Dunn, LB Kato June and WR Ike Hilliard.
"This is not a money issue. This is not an age issue [or] a youth movement," [Bucs new coach Raheem] Morris said. "It's a direction change. It's where we're going. It's part of the plan."
Brooks made 11 Pro Bowls and was the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 2002.

Dunn ranks 19th on the all-time rushing list with 10,967 yards.
"It all started here and now in my second term I know I have been blessed to be a Tampa Bay Buccaneer," Dunn said in a statement. "From here I don't know what the future holds, but wherever it goes I go with a full and grateful heart."
Galloway has 682 career receptions for 10,710 yards and 77 TDs while Hilliard has 546 career receptions for 6,397 yards and 35 TDs. 3 of Galloway's 6 1,000-yard seasons came in the past 5 seasons he's been with the Bucs.

June, who was signed to a 3-year deal in 2007, was expected to replace Brooks eventually at weakside LB.
"I'll be honest with you, they've got to possess some of the qualities of the men we just let go," Morris said of what he expects from future Bucs. "We're looking for men like them that will carry us into the new decade."
The Bucs are one of the teams with the most to spend in free agency and there has been speculation they would pursue free-agent-to-be Albert Haynesworth.
