Bucs franchise Antonio Bryant

With the deadline to franchise players fast approaching, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed their franchise tag on WR Antonio Bryant.

The Bucs can continue to negotiate a long-term deal with Bryant, which is what they are expected to do, until July 15th. If they don't agree to a long-term deal and Bryant signs the tag, he will earn a 2009 salary of $9.88 million.

Bryant had a career year in 2008. He finished the season with 83 receptions, 1248 receiving yards and 7 TDs (all career highs).

This was the first time in 10 seasons that the Bucs have franchised a player. The last player franchised was DE Chidi Ahanotu.
