Cards to franchise Karlos Dansby?

According to Adam Shefter of NFL Network, the Arizona Cardinals will likely use their franchise tag on LB Karlos Dansby by Wednesday.

The deadline for teams to franchise a player is February 19th and the free-agent period begins on February 27th.

Dansby would earn $9.6 million, which is 20% more than his 2008 salary. A franchised player earns the average of the top 5 salaries at his position or 20% more than his previous year's salary, whichever is greater.

Selected in the 2nd-round of the 2004 draft by the Cardinals, Dansby led the Cardinals in tackles with 119. He also had 4 sacks, 2 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles.
