Texans franchise Dunta Robinson

The Houston Texans have placed the franchise tag on CB Dunta Robinson today. The NFL deadline to use the franchise tag was today at 4 p.m. ET.

By franchising Robinson, the Texans are tendering a one-year offer of $9.96 million, which is the average of the top 5 CB salaries, for the 2009 season. That amount becomes guaranteed when/if Robinson signs the tender.

The Texans have until July 15th to negotiate a long-term deal.

Last season, Robinson, the Texans' first-round draft pick in 2004, had 2 interceptions and 38 tackles.
