Jags sign LT Tra Thomas
The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed free-agent LT Tra Thomas, who spent the past 11 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Does the 34-year-old have another 9 years to play?
The Jaguars GM Gene Smith expects Thomas to start at LT to replace Khalif Barnes, who is now a free agent. However, Smith didn't rule out the possibility of the Jags signing a tackle in the draft with the 8th overall pick.
"I have several years left in the tank," Thomas said. "I take good care of myself. I'm always in the weight room training. ... I put in a goal to play 20 years, so I want to come in and play as long as I possibly can. I feel like if I continue to take care of myself it can definitely happen."Thomas, who was selected by the Eagles with the 11th overall pick in 1996, has missed only 8 games in his 11 seasons.
