Jets match Browns' offer to Abram Elam

This off-season, coach Eric Mangini and the Cleveland Browns have signed four of his former Jets (defensive) players. The list includes DE C.J. Mosley, CB Hank Poteat, LB David Bowens and LB Eric Barton.

The Browns made an offer to Jets safety Abram Elam, who was a restricted free agent, for $1.5 million. The Jets, who had made a one-year, $1.01 million tender, had until today to match the Browns' offer, which they did.

After replacing injured Eric Smith in the starting lineup, Elam finished 2008 with 57 tackles, an interception (returned for a TD) and forced three fumbles, two of which were returned for TDs.
