Jets sign Donald Strickland as third CB

Per Rich Cimini of the Daily News, the New York Jets have signed cornerback Donald Strickland as the team's third corner. Pro Bowler Darrell Revis and Lito Sheppard, acquired this off-season as well, are the two starters.

Strickland started ten games for the San Francisco 49ers last year, but he will cover the slot in the nickel and dime packages for the Jets.

The Jets had brought in (and passed on) former Ravens' Corey Ivy and Samari Rolle, who played under coach Rex Ryan last year.

According to Cimini, Strickland's signing isn't a "ringing endorsement" for Dwight Lowery, who started until the Jets signed Ty Law last November.

Strickland, the Colts third-round pick in 2003, will be playing for his fourth NFL team. He has played for the Colts, Eagles and 49ers. Last year, Strickland had 38 tackles for the Niners.
