Zimmer says Williams has "good workout"
Two weeks ago, the Dallas Cowboys released safety Roy Williams. Yesterday, he worked out for the Cincinnati Bengals and Mike Zimmer, his former defensive coordinator.
After breaking his forearm, Williams only played three games in 2008. In his career, he has 512 tackles in 98 games, 6.5 sacks and 19 interceptions.
"It was a good workout. I wanted to evaluate him from when I remembered him," Zimmer said. "He's still got some quickness."Williams earned four Pro Bowl appearances in Zimmer's 4-3 defensive scheme, where he was allowed to play closer to the line of scrimmage. Williams made the Pro Bowl in 2007 after Zimmer switched to a 3-4 defense. Under the 3-4 scheme utilized by Wade Phillips, Williams has often gotten burned in coverage.
