Deuce McAllister filed for bankruptcy protection

The New Orleans Saints cut RB Deuce McAllister in the middle of February.

After having arthroscopic knee surgery in the off-season (and reconstructive surgery in 2007), McAllister is rehabbing at Duke University and hopes to find a new employer before the start of training camp.

However, the road has become a little bumpier.

McAllister, who owns two Nissan dealerships in Jackson (MS), filed for bankruptcy protection in March. Nissan says that McAllister owes $7 million to them. Today Nissan took possession of about 20 Nissans that were on McAllister's lot.
"Nissan financing has every right to protect the vehicles," McAllister said. "What they choose to do with them is their business. There's obviously a lot more to the story, but we'll see how this shakes out."

"I'm having to focus a little more time on this than I particularly want to," McAllister said of his dealership. "At some point, I have to step away from this and concentrate on football."
McAllister is the Saints' all-time leader in rushing yards (6096) and rushing touchdowns (49).
