Donte' Stallworth charged with DUI manslaughter

Cleveland Browns WR Donte' Stallworth has been charged with one count of DUI manslaughter, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years.

Per the Miami-Dade County state attorney's office, via the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Stallworth's blood-alcohol level was .126, which is above the state legal limit of .08.

The charge stems back to an accident where Stallworth hit and killed 59-year-old Mario Reyes in Miami Beach on March 14th.

NFL players like the Chiefs David Macklin, the Chargers Jamal Williams and Vincent Jackson and Stallworth are some of those that have been charged with DUI in 2009. And it's not a new phenomenon.

The minimum sentence for DUI manslaughter is four years. However, if he receives a much shorter sentence like the Rams Leonard Little did in 1998, this won't be enough of a deterrent for Stallworth and other NFL players to avoid repeating his mistake. In fact, Little was arrested for DUI only six years after killing Susan Gutweiler.
