Garcia in black and silver in 2009?
Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Oakland Raiders are interested in free-agent QB Jeff Garcia although it is not known if an offer has been made.
There has been little interest in the 39-year-old QB this off-season. However, Oakland would seem to be one of the last places I would expect Garcia to end up.
Garcia believes he should be a starter somewhere. And he would be an upgrade over the current starting quarterback in some places with Oakland possibly being one of those situations.
It is unlikely, however, that Raiders owner Al Davis believes that Garcia would have the opportunity to win the starting job away from the incumbent JaMarcus Russell, the first overall pick in 2007.
Perhaps Garcia is coming to the reality that the less-than-lukewarm interest he's received this off-season means he should go wherever he's wanted whether that means he starts or doesn't.
To me, the situation that would make the most sense would be Minnesota. The Vikings are a QB away from being a legitimate Super Bowl contender considering their running game and defense. However, the Vikings seem to be content with Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson.
Last year, Garcia had a QB rating of 90.2 and threw for 2712 yards in 12 games with the Bucs. He threw twice as many touchdowns (12) as he threw interceptions (6).
