Lions release Travis Fisher

Per Nicholas Cotsonika of the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit Lions have released cornerback Travis Fisher, who was "kind of surprised."

In the off-season, the Lions have added three new cornerbacks - Phillip Buchanon, Anthony Henry and Eric King.
They just told me that they were just releasing me to free some money up, but it’s not like they were paying me $4 million anyway,” said Fisher, who signed a three-year, $9-million deal with the Lions last year. “I think it’s kind of a bogus excuse, but it’s just a situation where I guess they wanted to go another way.”
Fisher, who signed a three-year, $9-million deal last year, had 37 tackles and no interceptions in 14 games last year.
