Steelers met with Ashley Lelie

The Pittsburgh Steelers met with wide receiver Ashley Lelie yesterday according to John Harris of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
"He had a great visit. The Steelers and I are going to continue to have open dialogue," [Lelie's agent Peter] Schaffer said. "I think there's some mutual interest, and we're going to keep discussing it."

"It was a very productive day for Ashley," Schaffer said. "The Steelers, I think, came away with the same opinion, and we're going to keep an open line of communication."
With Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes as starters, rookie receiver Mike Wallace, who the Steelers drafted in the third round, and last year's second-round pick Limas Sweed are expected to compete for the third receiver spot.

Nate Washington occupied that role in 2008, but he has signed with the Tennessee Titans as a free agent.

In the past two seasons, Lelie's production has dropped off a cliff. He has 21 receptions for 312 yards in 28 games.
