James Harrison still not going to White House

Per Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Steelers LB James Harrison, who won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award last season, is still not going to the White House when the Super Bowl champs visit President Barack Obama tomorrow.

And he says it has nothing to do with politics.
"Really, I could care less about the reaction," Harrison said. "That's my decision and I'm sticking with it. I'm surprised they're making a big deal about it. 'Oh my, James Harrison isn't going to the White House, he must be a devil worshiper.' "
President Obama nominated Steelers owner Dan Rooney ambassador to Ireland. When asked, he said he wouldn't visit the White House out of consideration to Rooney.
"I decided not to go because I didn't want to go. That's all there is to it." Harrison later said, "If Mr. Rooney wanted me to go to Ireland, I'd go."
When the Steelers won the Super Bowl in 2006, Harrison did not go with the team to the White House.

As teammate James Farrior said, "I think if he would have kept his mouth shut nobody would have noticed it this time."
