Jeff Garcia to "mentor" JaMarcus Russell?
Per Paul Gutierrez of the Sacramento Bee, Jeff Garcia might be exactly what JaMarcus Russell needs.
Garcia, who was signed in the off-season, is fiery and competitive whereas Russell is laid-back. Perhaps, as much as anything, Garcia will be Russell's "mentor" when it comes to attitude.
Considering this is the Oakland Raiders, that outcome seems to be the most-likely scenario.

"It's not an easy role to accept because of the competitive nature that is within me," Garcia said. "I struggled with it when I was in Philadelphia. … I had a hard time just sitting on the sideline watching; I wanted to be part of the game.Gutierrez argues that if there isn't buy in from Garcia (accepting his role) and Russell (accepting Garcia's advice), this just might turn ugly.
"That didn't mean I was a negative distraction for the team. I still did my work. I still held my head up high. I still tried to be whatever I needed to be for Donovan (McNabb), which is what I'll be here for JaMarcus. But deep inside, we're all competitors, and we all play this game to be on the field, not to be on the sidelines."
