Rams release Pisa Tinoisamoa

The St. Louis Rams have released Pisa Tinoisamoa, their leading tackler in 2008, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Tinoisamoa, who weighs 220 pounds, doesn't fit the mold of the type of linebackers new coach Steve Spagnuolo likes - bigger.

This off-season, the Rams moved Will WItherspoon to weak-side linebacker, which is where Tinoisamoa played.
“This was a difficult decision based on a lot of factors,” Spagnulo said in a statement released by the team. “I have a great deal of respect for Pisa and wish him all the best.”
Tinoisamoa was under contract until 2011. By releasing Tinoisamoa, the Rams will save $2.25 million in salary-cap space.
