Super Bowl in London?

Per Oliver Brown of the Telegraph (U.K.), the Super Bowl could be played in London as early as 2014.

The NFL will award the 2013 Super Bowl at its spring meeting in Fort Lauderdale later this month. It's expected to be awarded to New Orleans, but Miami (who will host the 2010 Super Bowl) and Phoenix are in the running as well. (See past Super Bowl results)

David Hornby, commercial director of Visit London, says that London is "looking at 2014, 2015 or 2017." Los Angeles will likely host the 2016 Super Bowl and London would like to host the event before 2018 as the city is competing to host the World Cup that year.
Jonathan Gregory, commercial director of Wembley Stadium, said: "We will do everything we can to work with the NFL and help bring this amazing event to London."

An NFL spokesman said: "The suggestions about London are only theoretical. There is no bid document."
Bidding for the 2014 Super Bowl is expected to be released in November so the NFL should have just added a little three-word phrase recently made popular by Brett Favre - "at this time" - to their statement.
