The Sunday Blitz

Eddie DeBartolo Jr. will join 16 other San Francisco 49ers as inaugural members of the team's Hall of Fame class. One notable omission from the list that includes players who have had their number retired by the Niners or have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame is all-time leading receiver Jerry Rice.

Ex-Steelers coach Bill Cowher plans to stay retired in 2009. "...I really do enjoy the job right now at CBS. I know I'm doing CBS this year. Everything is good, and I don't have other plans right now.''

The Vikings begin their OTAs on Tuesday, which will be first-round pick Percy Harvin's first practice with the Vikings. Also, the Sage-Tarvaris QB ... um, battle ... begins.

With their recent coaching retirements, the Indianapolis Colts have given Clyde Christensen and Pete Metzelaars the offensive coordinator and offensive line responsibilities, respectively, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Buccaneers LB coach Joe Barry says the Jermaine Phillips "experiment" as a LB is now over. "Now we've only had five minicamp practices and one OTA, but he has proven he can do it. It's not an experiment any more."
