Brandon Marshall wants out
First it was Jay Cutler. Now it's Brandon Marshall.
Marshall, who's recovering from hip surgery, was a no-show at the Broncos' three-day mini-camp this weekend.
And, according to Adam Schefter, Brandon Marshall is seeking a trade out of Denver.
As always, it boils down to compensation. Marshall, who's in the final year of his rookie contract, is due $2.2 million this season.
58 receivers make more than Marshall. 58 receivers don't have as much football talent as Marshall, who has had back-to-back 100-reception and 1000-yard seasons.
Then again, 58 players don't have the off-the-field drama that Marshall has. As I pointed out in a recent post, Marshall's wikipedia page has a section labeled "Legal Troubles."
It's unclear if the Broncos will acquiesce to Marshall's request for a trade. But I suppose an easy way to assure that is to ignore Pat Bowlen's phone calls and text messages as Cutler (allegedly) did.
