Browns sign George Foster

The Cleveland Browns have signed free-agent tackle George Foster, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Foster was released by the Detroit Lions after the Lions signed Jon Jansen, who was released by the Washington Redskins.

Before his two years with Detroit, Foster spent five years in Denver.

In 2007, Foster, who was the Broncos first-round pick in 2003, was traded along with Tatum Bell to Detroit for Dre' Bly, who was released by the Broncos (and subsequently signed with the Niners). Bell lifted Rudi Johnson's luggage after his release from the Lions last year.

So, in other words, two years removed from the Foster and Bell trade for Bly, all three players have been released by their teams.

To make room for Foster, the Browns released rookie safety Jason Venson.
