Deion Branch practiced for first time in 2009
Seattle Seahawks receiver Deion Branch returned to practice for the first time since last season.
Before yesterday, Branch had been running hills and doing rehab from a knee surgery that he had in March. It was his second procedure since he injured his knee in January 2008 in Green Bay.
Although Branch returned to practice, he says his knee may never be the same.
"You will never be back to normal once you have this type of procedure done. I actually feel stronger, but it's not normal," said Branch, who turns 30 next month. "Something has been done that removed (parts) of my knee. My biggest thing is to continue to strengthen it."
"It was just good to be back out there with the guys. The biggest thing was doing more team things, and not being off secluded with the rest of the injured guys," Branch said. "It was cool."
Seattle traded a first-round pick to acquire Branch and then gave him a $39 million contract in 2006. This was a classic example of a player cashing in on a great performance (Super Bowl MVP) and the acquiring team overpaying for that player's services.
And the injuries Branch have suffered has made the deal go from bad to worse.
