Jags trade Dennis Northcutt to Lions
The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded receiver Dennis Northcutt to Detroit Lions for safety Gerald Alexander, per Nicholas Cotsonika of the Detroit Free Press..
The deal is contingent upon both players passing their physicals and won't be official until Monday, per Michael C. Wright of The Florida Times-Union.
Four of the Jaguars' receivers from last year's roster won't be back with the team in 2009. Aside from Northcutt, the Jaguars parted ways with Matt Jones, Jerry Porter and Reggie Williams.
Alexander provides depth at safety for the Jaguars while Northcutt will likely be the slot receiver and return punts for the Lions.
