Jets' interest in Plaxico growing?

If New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan wants troubled receiver Plaxico Burress, Jets owner Woody Johnson said last month that he wouldn't stand in the way.

Per Rich Cimini of the NY Daily News, that certainly is the feeling in the Jets' locker room even if Ryan hasn't come out and say "get him if you can," as Cimini writes.

"We've got a strong locker room and a strong locker room can deal with, quote-unquote, guys like that," tackle Damien Woody said ' at the Jets' minicamp in Florham Park. "I don't see any problem bringing in a guy like Plaxico."

"Plax was a great teammate," [former Steeler teammate Alan] Faneca said. "He was going to say things at times that maybe not everybody was going to agree with, but you knew that was Plax, and you knew what you were going to get in practice and in the game. That's a great asset. From being around him, I think he'd fit in real good. He'd be welcome."

Plaxico is facing gun charges that carry a minimum jail sentence of 3 1/2 years and has a court date on Monday.

The Bears and Bucs are also believed to be considering Burress.
