Michael Irvin says Favre should stay retired

Everybody has an opinion about Brett Favre one way or the other. And Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin has an opinion on everything.

So, it's not surprising that Irvin let his opinion be known on the possibility (likelihood) of Favre coming out of retirement to play for the Vikings.

Irvin, who said "Favre's 100 years old," should remain retired.

"This is what's killing everybody. Every time Favre says, 'I want to come back,' it's like everybody on ESPN says, 'Whatever team he says he wants to come to, he makes them automatically a Super Bowl contender.'"

"I love Favre and I think he's been a phenomenal talent for a long time. But when I think about it now, I say, 'Stop it already.' I don't mind that you still want to play football, but do you want to play so much, and you want to get back at [Green Bay General Manager] Ted Thompson so much, that you're willing to go back into Lambeau and hurt those fans that supported you for so long?"

While I agree with Irvin that Favre should remain retired, it seems inevitable considering Favre has had surgery, the Vikings are observing him in Mississippi, etc.

That being said, using Irvin's math, if Favre, who was born on October 10th (1969), is "100 years old," that would Irvin, who was born on March 5th (1966), 104 years old.
