Raiders add Charlie Frye
The Oakland Raiders have signed QB Charlie Frye, who was an unrestricted free agent, per the San Jose Mercury News.
Frye, who was the Browns third-round pick in 2005, was traded to Seattle after starting Week 1 for the Browns in 2007. It was the first time that a time traded its starting QB during the regular season.
With JaMarcus Russell, the top overall pick in 2007, as the starter (for now) and Jeff Garcia, acquired in the off-season, as back-up (for now), Frye will compete with the other QBs (Andrew Walter, Bruce Gradkowski and rookie Danny Southwick) on the roster for the third-string spot.
That's how you know your football career has sunk to a low - battling for the third QB spot in Oakland.
