Steelers, Starks agree on four-year contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers have given left tackle Max Starks a new four-year contract that is worth $26.3 million including a $10 million signing bonus, per The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He is now under contract until 2012.

Earlier in the off-season, the Steelers designated Starks with the franchise tag, which would have guaranteed Starks a salary of $8.451 million in 2009.

"It was good deal for both sides," Steelers Director of Football Operations Kevin Colbert said. "It gives Max long-term security and it gives us security at a critical position. It also gives us cap flexibility to possibly get some more things done."

Starks, the Steelers third-round pick in 2004, started at right tackle in Super Bowl XL and at left tackle in Super Bowl XLIII.
