The Friday Blitz

Jim Donaldson of the Providence Journal says that he "was worried that" Jim Nance would be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame before Jon Morris. Donaldson writes, "It’s not that Nance doesn’t deserve to get in. It’s that he shouldn’t have gotten in before Morris."

The Jaguars released cornerback Will Allen and tight end Charles Davis.

Bengals LB Keith Rivers and DT Tank Johnson are watching film together. Johnson says, "I just want to know what he wants to see. What’s his ideal and what does he want to see in front of them when they’re running at them.”

The Cardinals signed a pair of seventh-round picks - LaRod Stephens-Howling and Trevor Canfield - to three-year contracts, per the Arizona Republic.

Bucs QB Byron Leftwich sat out of Thursday's practice and it wasn't his choice. "I could have went today," Leftwich said. "That's Raheem and them. You have to talk to them. They shut me down. . . I just tweaked my groin a little bit."

Titans QB Vince Young clarified (sort-of) his original start-me-or-trade-me type comments on ESPN yesterday. "I don't know what NFL player around the league doesn't want to play and be a starter," Young told ESPN. "So what I'm saying is that I'm ready to play ball, and if it's not here in my next two years that I'm going to be able to play here, then I'm telling guys around the league I'm ready to play football. That's basically what I'm saying."

Dominique Dorsey, the five-foot-seven ex-CFL player that was signed by the Redskins, tells the Washington Post, "I don't see it as a risk. My play is going to speak for itself."

Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson lost a ruling on his request to suppress evidence in his January 6th arrest, although his attorney said he would appeal the ruling.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is optimistic about several young players.

After signing him last week, the Patriots released Patrick Pass.

The Seahawks will use tight end John Carlson more in 2009.

Carson Palmer didn't say that he and Chad Ochocinco are "like Brokeback Mountain," but he says they get along fine. “All that squabbling, it’s all hype,” Palmer said. “It’s all blown out of proportion. It’s just a working relationship. We’re friends. We’re co-workers. We may not go and party together. But I don’t mind him. He doesn’t mind me. We get along fine.”
