Browns sign first-rounder Alex Mack
The Cleveland Browns have signed center Alex Mack, their first-round pick, to a five-year deal, according to Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Expectations are for Mack to displace Hank Fraley as starting center for the Browns.
The day after the draft, Mack said, "I plan to be the best player possible. If that means to be a guard or a center, I'm open to it. I can benefit from [Fraley's] experience."
All three of the Browns' second-round picks -- receiver Brian Robiskie, receiver Mohamed Massaquoi and linebacker David Veikune -- remain unsigned.
Last year, Mack won the Draddy Trophy, which is given to the nation's top scholar-athlete.
Rookies showed up for practice today and the Browns will begin full practices on August 1st.
