Jacobs says he's "not of a fan of Tony Romo"

Don't count New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs among the many (albeit diminishing number of) Tony Romo fans.

Jacobs, who appeared on ESPN Radio 1050 in New York, said of the Cowboys quarterback (via Pro Football Talk):

"I don't think he's that good a passer, to be honest with you," Jacobs said.

"I'm not a fan of Tony Romo, no. Keep him in the pocket, he's not that good. . . . His luck will be gone sooner or later. If you were to keep Tony Romo in the pocket he's not that effective."

First off, I'm a Cowboys fan who's not a big Tony Romo fan. But ESPN posted the numbers on SportsCenter showing Romo's splits of passing from the pocket versus out of the pocket.

While I should have jotted them down when I saw them, his numbers are noticeably better when he's passing from the pocket than when he's passing outside the pocket.

That being said, if the Cowboys and Jerry Jones want to have a "Romo-friendly" offense in 2009, they should pound the ball with Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice.

Now that the trio of "Earth, Wind & Fire" have been broken up (Derrick Ward signed with the Bucs), the Cowboys arguably have the league's best trio of running backs.
