The Friday Blitz

Cowboys linebacker Bradie James calls Keith Brooking "just a taller Zach Thomas."

James on Greg Ellis' claim that DeMarcus Ware hid so Ellis could play: "We're talking about probably the best defensive player in the league. There's no way he can hide. Even the birds, they know where No. 94 is, so there's no hide-and-go-seek."

Keeping with the Bradie James' comments theme, he said on ESPN 103.3 that, "Wade is different. Wade is really different, man. ... I've learned so much in the last couple of weeks, just dealing with him during minicamps and OTAs."

Chargers undrafted rookie Curtis Brinkley, who holds the Philadelphia prep school record for rushing yards (7249) and touchdowns (85), was shot and hospitalized but is in stable condition.

Giants rookie RB Danny Ware says: "A couple of coaches told me I had an outstanding mini-camp, they said I was killin’ it, but not everybody will say something to you. They don’t wanna blow your head up, they want to keep me humble and working hard."

Jaguars rookie receiver Mike Thomas agreed to a four-year deal worth up to $2.72 million, per Vito Stellino of the Jacksonville Times-Union.

The Patriots agreed to a four-year deal with cornerback Darius Butler, one of their second-round picks.

Both Texas Tech defensive end McKinner Dixon and Kansas State wide receiver Deon Murphy will be eligible for Thursday's NFL supplemental draft.

Roger Goodell says no to sideline tweeting, but Chad Ochocinco said (via Twitter, of course), "Damn NFL and these rules, I am going by my own set of rules, I ain't hurting nobody or getting in trouble, I am putting my foot down!!"

Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor said: "Obviously, [Bill] Parcells and [GM Jeff] Ireland and their front office is a big step up from what was here in the past. I know I haven't played a game for them yet, but I'm ready to run through a brick wall for them.''

There are big expectations for Bears receiver Devin Hester ... from Hester himself.

The Bengals still haven't reached a long-term deal with Shayne Graham, their designated franchise player. If they don't reach a deal by the 15th, they'll have to wait until after the season to resume negotiations.

Gary Shelton of the St. Petersburg Times named five teams that Brooks' agent should call. They are the Bears, Colts, Vikings, Jaguars and Giants.
