Favre is back

Gotcha. Brett Favre has done it (to us) again.

According to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Brett Favre has officially unretired (again), has already passed his physical and is already on the practice field with the Minnesota Vikings.

In the process, Favre has snatched the number 4 jersey from back-up John David Booty, who will switch to number 9, and Favre will start the Vikings' pre-season game on Friday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

"I am excited about the opportunity to join this football team," Favre said in a release, per The Star Tribune. "From ownership, to coaching, to the players, it is evident that everyone in the Vikings organization is committed to bringing the fans of Minnesota a Championship. I am eager to join my new teammates and get to work towards that goal."

As Mark Schlereth of ESPN's NFL Live points out, Vikings coach Brad Childress has zero "credibility" with the players on this team. I suppose, Favre is the exception -- but isn't he always?

"The problem you have is, at some point you're going to face adversity. And, at some point, your coach is going to call on you because you're not doing things right or things aren't going right. And you know what you're going to sit there and think?" Schlereth said of players. "This guy is full of baloney. Because there's a credibility issue that has been established by that organization. And that's going to be a problem for the Minnesota Vikings."

Favre's deal is worth $10-$12 million, per ESPN, and he's scheduled for a press conference at 6 p.m. ET.
