No Brandon Marshall in week 2
Playing video games, surfing the web, watching a movie and playing in a pre-season football game.
Three of these are possible activities for Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall tonight. One -- playing in a pre-season game -- is not.
Per Mike Klis of the Denver Post, Marshall did not make the trip to Seattle with the Broncos and therefore won't be playing in the team's second pre-season game tonight.
As Klis points out, Marshall's status seemed to change on Tuesday when his agent reiterated their request to the Broncos that Marshall be traded. That's when Marshall was demoted to the scout team.
Meanwhile, Marshall claims to still not know the playbook yet. And, as the Mile High Report points out, Marshall spent time playing defense -- not offense, but defense -- on the scout team. Perhaps he's learning the plays (roll eyes) by watching Eddie Royal and Jabar Gaffney run the routes.
While coach Josh McDaniels, owner Pat Bowlen and/or the Broncos' front office may not want to put up with Marshall, trading their franchise quarterback and their most talented skill player would send the wrong signal to the rest of the team. Granted, that has probably already happened by trading Jay Cutler, but that is already done and can't be reversed.
Instead, they can send a message to Marshall -- and, more importantly, to the rest of the team -- by not caving to Marshall's request to be traded.
