Eagles running back Brian Westbrook returned to practice for the first time since having surgery on his ankle.
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones isn't worried about depth at the cornerback position behind the top four -- Terence Newman, Mike Jenkins, Orlando Scandrick and Alan Ball, who will mostly work at free safety.
Although Newman and Jenkins didn't play against the Raiders Thursday, they are expected back at practice on Monday for the Cowboys.
Steelers center Justin Hartwig was scheduled to return to practice after not practicing with the first team since August 1st.
The Cowboys have cut nose tackle Tim Anderson, who was signed on January 26th.
The Jets have signed guard Dennis Conley and waived quarterback Chris Pizzotti and wide receiver Paul Raymond.
Per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Steelers punter Daniel Sepulveda, who missed all of last season, said of the "loud roar" when he came on to punt: "I was sitting there thinking, 'Wow, there's enough pressure as it is.' I'm just glad I hit a good one for 'em."
Monday night could be the matchup of Steve Smith's that wasn't. The Giants' Smith won't play due to a knee injury and the Panthers' Smith has been keeping quiet on his status.
"Take it easy. It's just precaution. I'm fine," [Bengals QB Carson] Palmer said to someone seeing Palmer walk with a walking boot.
The Saints have signed kicker John Carney, who played for the Saints from 2001 to 2006.
“Sam [Hurd] makes circus catches every day, and he did the same thing in the ballgame,” [Cowboys coach Wade] Phillips said. “We're going to get him more and more playing time because he deserves it.” Hurd will get some reps with the first team against the Titans on Friday.
In the first game of the pre-season, Vernon Gholston, the Jets first draft pick last year, had only two tackles. With Calvin Pace suspended for four games, the Jets need Gholston to step up.
Panthers linebacker Dan Connor, who hasn't played in 11 months, said: “I can't wait to play again, to put the uniform on. It has felt like forever.”
