Giants cut David Tyree

The New York Giants have released the player that arguably made the greatest play in team and NFL history.

Per Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger, the Giants have released wide receiver David Tyree.

"He's obviously disappointed, but we're confident someone else will see the value he brings on special teams and as a wide receiver," Michael Clouser, Tyree's agent, told Garafolo. " We'll see how things go here in the next few days."

Tyree, the Giants' sixth-round pick in 2003, spent all of last year on injured reserve. In 2007, he had only four receptions for 35 yards over 12 games.
