49ers to franchise Franklin, per Adam Schefter
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the San Francisco 49ers will place the franchise tag on nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin, which means he'll earn $7 million in 2010.
That is, unless the Niners and Franklin reach a long-term deal although Schefter believes that is unlikely.
Franklin, who was Baltimore's fifth-round pick in 2003, was acquired by San Francisco in 2007. Last year, he finished with 36 tackles and two sacks.
The deadline for teams to apply the franchise tag to a player is February 25th.
