Hillis misses another practice, Mangini optimistic he'll play

For a second day in a row, Browns running back Peyton Hillis (ribs) has missed practice.

That said, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram tweeted that coach Eric Mangini is "optimistic" that Hillis will be able to play on Sunday versus the Steelers, who have the league's stingiest run defense this season (64.1 yards per game allowed).

In the first 11 games of the season, Hillis scored a total of 13 touchdowns -- 11 rushing and two receiving. Over the past four games, however, Hillis has not scored any touchdowns.

During that four-game span, the only game in which Hillis had at least 60 rushing yards (108 yards) was against the Buffalo Bills, who have allowed the most rushing yards this season (162.5 YPG allowed).

Marques Colston has knee scoped, likely out in Week 17

Saints wideout Marques Colston had his right knee scoped on Tuesday, but coach Sean Payton isn't yet ruling him out for Week 17 against the Buccaneers, per Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times Picayune.

"I don't want to diminish the fact that he had this scope, but they just cleaned up some loose bodies," Payton explained. "It was one of those decisions we made knowing that it wasn't going to be significant."

Of course, it's highly unlikely that Colston will be on the field on Sunday.

The Saints, who currently trail the Falcons by one game in the standings, have already clinched a playoff berth and their positioning (No. 5 seed) is unlikely to change after this weekend's games.

In the event that the Panthers, who are more than two-touchdown underdogs, upset the Falcons, the Saints would be a win away from the top overall seed for the NFC playoffs.

With Colston likely out this weekend, it boosts the fantasy value of the other -- and usually less predictable -- Saints receivers: Robert Meachem, Lance Moore and Devery Henderson. In addition, receiver Adrian Arrington was activated from the team's practice squad.

On the season, Colston has 84 receptions for 1,023 yards and seven touchdowns.

It is the fourth time in his five-year career that Colston has reached the 1,000-yard milestone and the exception was an injury-shortened season (11 games played in 2008).

Tom Brady sets NFL record for pass attempts without an INT

In today's win over the Buffalo Bills, the New England Patriots scored 30-plus points for the seventh straight game, which has happened only six times in NFL history. More importantly, however, the Patriots clinched home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

During those seven 30-plus-point games (all wins), Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has had a 100-plus quarterback rating in all of them.

Brady has now thrown for two-plus touchdowns with no interceptions in eight consecutive games, which is an NFL record.

In addition, Brady has extended his streak of games without an interception to ten. In fact, today Brady set the NFL record for most pass attempts (319) without an interception.

Josh Freeman throws as many TDs as incompletions (five)

Before today's game, Tampa's second-year quarterback Josh Freeman threw a total of four touchdowns, one in each game, in his previous four games.

In today's game against the Seahawks, however, Freeman bucked the trend and threw a career-high five touchdowns.

In fact, it was the first time he threw for more than two touchdowns in a game this season and only the second time in his two-year career.

Not only did Freeman threw five touchdowns, he only threw five incomplete passes. He completed 21 of 26 pass attempts for 237 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions.

Since Week 10, Freeman has thrown a total of 13 touchdowns while throwing only one interception. On the season, Freeman has thrown for 3,196 yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions.

LeGarrette Blount rushed for career-high 164 yards

Since he's a rookie, Bucs running back LeGarrette Blount rushed for both a season- and career-high 164 yards in today's win over the Seattle Seahawks.

In his last four games, Blount has now surpassed the 100-yard mark three times. And it was his fourth 100-yard game of the season.

On the season, Blount has rushed for 941 yards, which leads all rookie running backs in rushing. Saints running back Chris Ivory, who is questionable for Monday's game versus Atlanta, ranks second amongst rookies.

Blount and teammate Mike Williams have the opportunity to become the first pair of teammates since 1968 to lead all rookies in rushing and receiving in the same season.

If Blount rushes for 59 yards (or more) against the Saints in Week 17, he will become the first Bucs running back to go over 1,000 yards since 2005 (Cadillac Williams, 1,178).

Maurice Jones-Drew out for Week 16

Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times Union has confirmed via Twitter that Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew won't play against the Redskins this week.

As Ganguli tweeted on Friday, Jones-Drew missed Friday's practice and no player that missed a Friday practice played in a game this season for the Jaguars.

Jones-Drew had his six-game streak of 100-yard games end against the Colts last week.

If Rashad Jennings is available in your league, he should have a strong week against a Redskins run defense that ranks 27th in the NFL. Only the Buccaneers have allowed more yards per carry that the Redskins (4.8).

In his past four games with Jones-Drew healthy, Jennings has 25 rushing attempts for 219 yards (8.8 yards per carry) and three touchdowns in addition to nine receptions for 74 yards.

Fantasy Football: Week 16 Quarterback (QB) Rankings

With Championship Week about to get under way with the Steelers and Panthers game (discuss game) in a couple of hours, here are some news and notes about quarterbacks and pass defenses:

CHARLOTTE, NC - DECEMBER 12: Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons celebrates against the Carolina Panthers during their game at Bank of America Stadium on December 12, 2010 in Charlotte, North Carolina. (Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)

- The Saints have allowed multi-touchdown passing games only twice this season: versus Baltimore last week and Atlanta in Week 3. With the exception of Week 1, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has thrown a touchdown in every game this season. In his past four games, however, Ryan has thrown for only 197, 205, 227 and 174 yards, respectively.

- Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has thrown 20 touchdowns and only three interceptions since Week 3. On the road this season, Flacco has thrown seven of his eight interceptions and the Ravens head to Cleveland in Week 16. In his first matchup with the Browns (Week 3), however, Flacco threw three touchdowns and no interceptions.

- Rams rookie quarterback Sam Bradford, the top overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, has thrown no touchdowns and five interceptions in his past three games. In two of those three games, Bradford has thrown for less than 200 yards.

- Redskins quarterback Rex Grossman threw for 322 yards and four touchdowns in his debut as the team's starting quarterback. This week, the Redskins face the Jaguars, who have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.

- For a ninth consecutive game, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had an interception-less game. During that span, he has thrown a total of 21 touchdowns.

- Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has thrown for 1956 yards (279 YPG) and 14 touchdowns while rushing for 426 yards (61 YPG) and seven touchdowns in his past seven games. In other words, he's scored 13 fantasy points per game from his rushing stats alone.

- Houston's Matt Schaub has thrown for 300-plus yards in three consecutive games and two-plus touchdowns in four consecutive games. In his past two games, Schaub has 116 combined pass attempts.

- Dallas quarterback Jon Kitna has four 300-yard games and five multi-touchdown games in nine games this season. With Tony Romo being placed on IR Tuesday, Kitna will get two more starts.

Here are my top ten fantasy quarterbacks for Week 16:

1. Michael Vick, Eagles (vs MIN)
2. Drew Brees, Saints (at ATL)
3. Tom Brady, Patriots (at BUF)
4. Peyton Manning, Colts (at OAK)
5. Philip Rivers, Chargers (at CIN)
6. Aaron Rodgers, Packers (vs NYG)

Fantasy Football: Week 16 Running Back (RB) Rankings

With Championship Week about to get under way with the Steelers and Panthers game (discuss game) in a few hours, here are some news and notes about running backs and run defenses:

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall celebrates his two yard touchdown run in the first quarter against Green Bay Packers at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on December 20, 2009. UPI/Archie Carpenter Photo via Newscom

- Last week vs the Jets, Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall rushed for (a corrected) 99 yards, which means the Jets still have not allowed a 100-yard rusher this season.

- Although the Panthers didn't allow any rushing touchdowns last week, they allowed three each to Cleveland's Peyton Hillis, Seattle's Marshawn Lynch and Atlanta's Michael Turner in Weeks 12, 13 and 14, respectively.

- Carolina's Jonathan Stewart has run for 100-plus yards in back-to-back games and for 90-plus yards in four consecutive games. If he extends either streak, he will set the season-high for running backs facing the Steelers this year. (Take our poll on how many yards Stewart will have in Week 16.)

- The Steelers have yet to allow a 100-yard rusher this season. In fact, they have allowed only three running backs (BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Fred Jackson and Cedric Benson) to rush for more than 50 yards this season.

- Baltimore's Ray Rice set a career high in yards from scrimmage (233) in Week 15. Not only did Rice lead the team in rushing (153 yards), but he also led them in receiving (80 yards).

- Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson has had 36-59 rushing yards in each of his past nine games. L.T. needs 114 rushing yards to reach the 1,000-yard milestone with games against the Bears, who have allowed second-fewest rushing yards this season, and Bills, who have allowed the most rushing yards.

- From Weeks 10 to 15, the Bears have allowed only one touchdown to a running back (New England's Danny Woodhead). Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 6, when he scored two of them against the Broncos.

- A trio of AFC East running backs have 800-something rushing yards with two games to go: LaDainian Tomlinson (886), BenJarvus Green-Ellis (824) and Fred Jackson (811). Vote on our 1,000-yard rushing polls for them in our Jets Forum, Patriots Forum and Bills Forum.

- Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles has three 100-yard games in his last four games played. The exception (40 yards vs San Diego) was the game that quarterback Matt Cassel missed due to an appendectomy.

- The San Francisco 49ers still have not allowed a 100-yard rusher this season. Rams running back Steven Jackson had 20 carries for 81 yards in their first matchup.

Here are my top ten fantasy running backs for Week 16:

1. Rashard Mendenhall, Steelers (vs CAR)
2. Arian Foster, Texans (at DEN)
3. Darren McFadden, Raiders (vs IND)
4. Michael Turner, Falcons (vs NO)
5. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars (vs WAS)
6. Chris Johnson, Titans (at KC)
7. Ray Rice, Ravens (at CLE)
8. Jamaal Charles, Chiefs (vs TEN)
9. Adrian Peterson, Vikings (at PHI)
10. LeSean McCoy, Eagles (vs MIN)

Fantasy Football: Week 16 Wide Receiver (WR) Rankings

With Championship Week about to get under way with the Steelers and Panthers game (discuss game) in a few hours, here are some news and notes about wide receivers and pass defenses:

BEL AIR, CA - JULY 12: Dallas Cowboys football player Miles Austin and actress Kim Kardashian attend professional tennis player Serena Williams' Pre-ESPYs House Party held at a private residence on July 12, 2010 in Bel Air, California. (Photo by Charley Gallay/Getty Images for SW)

- Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin has four games with 25 yards or less in his last seven games played. During that span, Austin has only one game with more than 50 receiving yards.

- Redskins receiver Anthony Armstrong had the first 100-yard game of his NFL career in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. Although he's unlikely to reach the 1,000-yard milestone for the season, he needs 228 with two games to go.

- Despite having Drew Stanton as his quarterback, Lions receiver Calvin Johnson led all players in receiving yards (152) in Week 15.

- Buffalo receiver David Nelson, who is available in almost every Yahoo! Fantasy league, has scored a touchdown in three consecutive games.

- San Francisco receiver Josh Morgan has played much better than the team's No. 1 receiver in the past two weeks. During that span, Morgan has ten receptions for 188 yards and a touchdown while Crabtree has four receptions for 18 yards.

- Pittsburgh's Mike Wallace hasn't scored a touchdown in four consecutive games. That said, he has four 100-yard games in his last seven games played.

- Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco hasn't practiced on Wednesday or Thursday. To make things more interesting, coach Marvin Lewis called him "mopey" while Ochocinco tweeted, "Since when the f--- am I ever mopey?..."

- Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald season-highs in receptions (nine) and yards (125) in last week's game. This week, Fitzgerald faces the Cowboys, who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing receivers, on Christmas night. In addition, the Cowboys have allowed a touchdown to receivers in every game except Week 1.

Here are my top ten fantasy wide receivers for Week 16:

1. Andre Johnson, Texans (at DEN)
2. Calvin Johnson, Lions (at MIA)
3. Roddy White, Falcons (vs NO)
4. Marques Colston, Saints (at ATL)
5. Reggie Wayne, Colts (at OAK)
6. Greg Jennings, Packers (vs NYG)
7. DeSean Jackson, Eagles (vs MIN)
8. Hakeem Nicks, Giants (at GB)
9. Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals (vs DAL)
10. Vincent Jackson, Chargers (at CIN)

Fantasy Football: Week 16 Tight End (TE) Rankings

With Championship Week about to get under way with the Steelers and Panthers game (discuss game) in a few hours, here are some news and notes about tight ends and pass defenses:

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - NOVEMBER 14: Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys stiff arms Deon Grant of the New York Giants as he runs the ball on November 14, 2010 at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images)

- For the second time in four games, Cowboys tight end Jason Witten had ten receptions. During that four-game span, he has 32 receptions for 350 yards and four touchdowns.

- In his last three games, Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew has a total of 75 receiving yards an no touchdowns. He had games with 36, 14 and 25 receiving yards, respectively.

- Last week, San Francisco's Vernon Davis finished with only one reception for four yards. In the previous two games, Davis had nine receptions for 196 yards and two touchdowns combined.

- Philadelphia's Brent Celek has 50-plus receiving yards in three of his past four games. Then again, Celek has zero receptions for (obviously) zero yards in three of his past seven games.

- Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has scored six touchdowns in his past seven games. During those seven games, he's alternated between scoring a touchdown (or two) and no touchdown. Last week, Hernandez scored two touchdowns versus the Packers.

- Giants tight end Kevin Boss has caught a touchdown pass in five of his past seven games. He didn't record a single touchdown in his first seven games. The Packers, who have allowed the third most fantasy points to tight ends this season, have allowed a touchdown to the opposing tight ends in four consecutive games.

- Since Week 4, only one tight end has had more than 50 receiving yards against the Bears (Washington's Chris Cooley in Week 7). Meanwhile, Jets tight end Dustin Keller has struggled since his first four games. In his first four games of the season, Keller had 19 receptions for 254 yards and five touchdowns. Since then (ten games), Keller has 29 receptions for 354 yards and no touchdowns.

- Cooley scored his third touchdown of the season when the Redskins faced the Cowboys last week. His other two touchdowns were against the Texans and Eagles, the two teams that have allowed the second-most and most fantasy points to opposing tight ends, respectively, this season. This week, the Redskins face the Jaguars, who have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points this season. And he'll have the chance to score a touchdown against the other NFC East opponent (New York Giants) next week.

Here are the top ten fantasy tight ends for Week 16:

1. Jason Witten, Cowboys (at ARI)
2. Jacob Tamme, Colts (at OAK)
3. Vernon Davis, 49ers (at STL)
4. Kevin Boss, Giants (at GB)
5. Marcedes Lewis, Jaguars (vs WAS)
6. Tony Gonzalez, Falcons (vs NO)
7. Chris Cooley, Redskins (at JAX)
8. Jimmy Graham, Saints (at ATL)
9. Zach Miller, Raiders (vs IND)
10. Rob Gronkowski, Patriots (at BUF)

Aaron Rodgers passes all concussion-related tests

Per Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has passed all the concussion-related tests by a team physician and independent neurologist in order to be able to play in Week 16 against the Giants.

As Wilde points out, it was expected that Rodgers would be cleared to return but it "wasn't a foregone conclusion, either."

Rodgers, who suffered a concussion in Week 14, missed last week's game against the Patriots on Sunday night.

On the season, the Giants have allowed the second-fewest passing yards (188.4 per game) in the NFL. Only San Diego has allowed fewer.

In addition, the Giants have allowed only one 300-yard passer (Dallas QB Jon Kitna in Week 10) this season. In fact, only five quarterbacks (Philadelphia's Michael Vick twice) have passed for 200-plus yards against the Giants.

Of course, if Rodgers was your starting quarterback, there's a good chance that you were eliminated from the playoffs in Week 14 (46 yards vs. Detroit) or Week 15 (out vs. New England).

December 20, 2010

Favre active, Peterson inactive for Vikings

When the Vikings host the Bears on Monday Night Football tonight, Brett Favre will be the Vikings' starting quarterback as reported by NFL Network's Albert Breer on Twitter.

Rookie third-string quarterback Joe Webb, who moved up the depth chart after Tarvaris Jackson was placed on injured reserve (IR), was expected to make his first career start.

The status of Favre, who was upgraded from "out" to questionable today, was not the only lineup surprise by the Vikings.

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson (thigh/ankle) is inactive and Toby Gerhart will get the start with Lorenzo Booker backing up Gerhart, per ESPN 1500's Tom Pelissero.

If you're a Peterson owner, you've hopefully stashed Gerhart on your bench as a handcuff. And hopefully you didn't start Webb as your WR3 or Flex.

December 19, 2010

Ray Rice sets career-high in yards from scrimmage (233)

Last year, Baltimore's Ray Rice was one of only two players in the league to exceed 2,000 yards from scrimmage. (Of course, Tennessee's Chris Johnson broke the single-season record previously held by Marshall Faulk.)

Therefore, the lofty draft status (top four picks) in fantasy leagues seemed reasonable for Rice heading into his third season with the Ravens.

Heading into Week 15, however, Rice was mostly a (mild) disappointment. Rice was averaging under four yards per carry and only scored in two games (three touchdowns) this season before Week 15.

Rice delivered when it mattered most.

In today's win over the Saints, Rice set season-highs in rushing attempts (31) and rushing yards (153) while scoring two touchdowns (one rushing and one receiving).

Rice, who led the team in rushing (153) and receiving (80), set a career-high with 233 yards from scrimmage.

Next week, the Ravens face the Browns, who have played tough against the run this season despite allowing Cedric Benson to rush for 150 yards a touchdown today.

T.O. done for 2010, hopes to play in 2011

The Cincinnati Bengals will be without wide receiver Terrell Owens for the remainder of the season due to a torn meniscus.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Bengals were debating whether to deactivate Owens for the final three games of the season due to "his attitude and performance in practice and games."

Owens had a really strong five-game stretch from Weeks 4 to 9.

During that span, T.O. had 41 receptions for 618 yards and seven touchdowns. He had three 100-yard games (including a 200-yard game) and scored each week during that stretch. All five of his highest yardage totals in 2010 came during that five-game span.

In the rest of the season (nine games) including today, T.O. had a total of 31 receptions for 365 yards and two touchdowns.

Owens hopes to play an additional two seasons although neither of those will be in Cincinnati, according to SI's Peter King (via PFT).

And regardless of what Owens wants to do, he will likely experience a 2011 off-season similar to this year's (Owens was a free agent until late-July).

Updated Fantasy Football Rankings for Week 15

You're reading this post for one of two reasons: (1) you're either in the playoffs of your fantasy football league(s) or (2) you are a huge fan of my writing and can't get enough.

So, in other words, congratulations on making the playoffs!

Due to the importance of you winning your fantasy league(s), I'm trying something new (i.e., not being lazy). I've updated my fantasy rankings this morning at TheTipDrill.com, the fantasy section of our website.

CHICAGO, IL - DECEMBER 12: Tom Brady of the New England Patriots looks to pass against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on December 12, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois. The Patriots beat the Bears 36-7. (Photo by Dilip Vishwanat/Getty Images)

Week 15 Fantasy Quarterback Rankings:

1. Tom Brady, Patriots (vs Packers): "Terrific Tom" has been pretty terrific lately. For three consecutive (and four out of the last five) games, Brady has thrown for 300-plus yards. For six consecutive games, Brady has thrown two-plus touchdowns. In fact, Brady has thrown 19 touchdowns and zero interceptions in his past eight games.

2. Drew Brees, Saints (at Ravens): Brees is the only quarterback in NFL history to throw for 20,000-plus yards and 150-plus touchdowns in the first five years with a new NFL team. Brees hasn't been perfect this season (18 interceptions), but he has thrown a touchdown in all 13 games this season. In five of his past seven games, he has thrown for 300-plus yards. And he has ten multi-touchdown games this season.

3. Michael Vick, Eagles (at Giants): It's been a remarkable season. After all, Vick could possibly end up league MVP and Donovan McNabb has been benched for Rex Grossman. Vick ranks third in the NFL in passer rating (104.3) and has thrown 17 touchdowns to only four interceptions despite missing three games. The Giants have allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. In fact, the Giants have given up only one passing touchdown in their past four games, which includes a 27-17 loss to the Eagles in Week 11.

4. Peyton Manning, Colts (vs Jaguars): After throwing 11 interceptions in three games, Manning bounced back with a zero-interception performance against the Titans last week. Manning leads the NFL in passing yards per game (310) and is fourth in touchdowns (26). The Jaguars, who have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, have been playing slightly better defense against the pass. After allowing six straight multi-touchdown games, they have allowed the opposition to throw for two touchdowns in only half (three) of their past six games.

5. Matt Ryan, Falcons (at Seahawks): In four of their past six games, the Seahawks have allowed opposing quarterbacks to throw for three (or more) touchdowns. In the two games they didn't, they faced the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers -- two teams with arguably the worst quarterback situations in the NFL. I like my chances with Ryan, who has a 22-to-eight touchdown-to-interception ratio this season.

See our updated top 25 fantasy quarterbacks for Week 15.

Week 15 Fantasy Running Back Rankings:

1. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars (at Colts): Pocket Hercules is on a roll. For six consecutive games, Jones-Drew has reached the 100-yard rushing milestone. And the resistence for a seventh straight game is low (take our poll). Indianapolis ranks 29th in the league against the run (141.1 yards per game) and only the Redskins have allowed more yards per carry than the Colts (4.8). The Colts have allowed seven 100-yard rushers (including MJD in their first matchup this season).

2. Michael Turner, Falcons (at Seahawks): Turner, who is coming off a three-touchdown performance, has scored ten touchdowns in his past seven games. In addition, Turner has rushed for 100-plus yards three times in his past four games.

3. Arian Foster, Texans (at Titans): When the Texans faced the Titans in Week 12, Foster led the team in rushing and receiving (granted, Andre Johnson was ejected for fighting with Cortland Finnegan). Nonetheless, Foster finished with 30 rushing attempts for 143 yards and caught nine passes for 75 yards.

4. Darren McFadden, Raiders (vs Broncos): McFadden is facing the Broncos, who rank 31st in the NFL against the run, for a second time. In their first matchup, McFadden finished with almost 200 yards from scrimmage (165 rushing yards and 31 receiving yards) and four touchdowns (three rushing and one receiving).

5. Chris Johnson, Titans (vs Texans): In his first matchup with the Texans, Rusty Smith was under center for Tennessee. That game did not go well for any Titans player including Johnson. Johnson finished with only five rushing yards on seven carries. I would expect Johnson to get many more carries this week than he got in Week 12 and to be much more productive.

See our updated top 40 fantasy running backs for Week 15.

Baltimore won 34-28 in overtime. (Photo by Bob Levey/Getty Images)

Week 15 Fantasy Wide Receiver Rankings:

1. Andre Johnson, Texans (at Titans): Johnson has posted back-to-back games with 140-plus receiving yards. In fact, he's reached that level three times in the past five games. Last week, the Texans threw 62 times and Johnson had 14 targets.

2. Roddy White, Falcons (at Seahawks): White has had less than 70 receiving yards in only three games this season (one game with 69 yards and two games with 49 yards). White has had five-plus receptions in 12 of 13 games this season (one game with four receptions). Remarkable consistency for the guy who leads the NFL in targets (153).

3. Reggie Wayne, Colts (vs Jaguars): Speaking of targets, Wayne is second in the league with 148. He has 100-plus yards in three of his past four games and one of those was a 14-reception, 200-yard performance. Over his past four games, Wayne has 31 receptions for 455 yards and two touchdowns.

4. Calvin Johnson, Lions (at Bucs): MegaTron's touchdown streak ended at four games after he finished with only one reception for 44 yards against the Packers last week. That was only the fourth game he was kept out of the endzone (although Week 1 against the Bears was highly controversial) and he has yet to go two consecutive games without a touchdown.

5. DeSean Jackson, Eagles (at Giants): Coming off a career-high 210-yard performance, Jackson leads the NFL with an average of 23.1 yards per reception. He has 19 receptions of 20-plus yards (only Mike Wallace and Brandon Lloyd have more). Although Jackson has only one game with more than five receptions, he has four games with 100-plus yards.

Good luck in Week 15.

As expected, Aaron Rodgers won't play Sunday Night

Although it was widely expected, the Green Bay Packers have now made it official, according to Tom Silverstein of the Journal Sentinel.

When the Packers face the New England Patriots on Sunday Night, they won't have Aaron Rodgers under center. Rodgers suffered his second concussion of the season in last week's loss to the Lions.

Instead Matt Flynn will get the start, the first of his career, and Graham Harrell, activated from the practice squad, will back up Flynn.

Flynn, who was the team's seventh-round draft pick in 2008, was 15-of-26 for 177 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in relief of Rodgers last week.

In my updated fantasy rankings, Flynn is the 24th-ranked quarterback (see QB rankings) and Greg Jennings and Donald Driver are the 16th- and 44th-ranked wide receivers (see WR rankings), respectively, for Week 15.

Rodgers will likely return in Week 16 when the Packers host the Giants, however, there's a good chance your team won't see the fantasy championship if your quarterback is Rodgers.

December 17, 2010

Matt Cassel will be a game-time decision on Sunday

The Chiefs have listed quarterback Matt Cassel, who missed last week's game versus San Diego, as "questionable" for this week's game against the Rams (discuss game).

Per ESPN's John Clayton, Cassel's status for Sunday's game will be determined after an examination on Sunday.

Brodie Croyle, who is now 0-10 as a starter, was 7-of-17 for 40 yards against the Chargers last week.

Cassel has thrown 23 touchdowns and only four interceptions this season.

McNabb benched for Grossman, agent calls it "beyond disrespectful"

The Washington Redskins have benched quarterback Donovan McNabb in favor of Rex Grossman for this week's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

Per NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora, "the guys are extremely pissed" as one Redskins player told LaCanfora.

"Disrespectful is probably not strong enough of a word," Fletcher N. Smith, McNabb's representative, told Jason Reid of the Washington Post. "Donovan has handled himself with nothing but class, not just in Washington but as an ambassador for the league. To treat him this way ... it's beyond disrespectful."

McNabb, who was benched for Grossman at the end of the Lions' game, is not having a great season (certainly not by his standards): 14 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. For his career, however, McNabb has a 2-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio (230 touchdowns and 115 interceptions).

But Rex Grossman, the Bears' first-round pick in 2003, has completed only 54 percent of his career passes and thrown 33 touchdowns to 36 interceptions.

Coach Mike Shanahan is expected to address the situation in 30-45 minutes from now (noon on Friday).

From a fantasy perspective, both McNabb (obviously) and Grossman should be on your bench even though the Cowboys have allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.

[Update: Shanahan said in the press conference that McNabb will be the team's No. 3 (emergency QB) for the remainder of the season. That, of course, means it's a near certainty that McNabb won't be playing quarterback for the Redskins in 2011.]

Career-high 3 TDs for Vincent Jackson

Last season, Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson set career-highs in receptions (68), yards (1,167) and touchdowns (nine).

Last night, Jackson set another career-high: three touchdown receptions in a game.

With Malcom Floyd and Antonio Gates declared out for their Thursday Night matchup with San Francisco, Jackson picked up the slack. He finished the game with five receptions for 112 yards and three touchdowns.

Next week, the Chargers face the Bengals, who have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this week. In fact, the Bengals have allowed 200-plus receiving yards to wide receivers in three of their past four games after doing so only once in their first nine games.

Fantasy Football: Start'em, Sit'em for Week 15

Every week, we list several players that we believe should start on most fantasy rosters. We do the same with folks that should take a seat on most fantasy rosters.

If you want our thoughts on players not on this list, feel free to send your start/sit questions via Twitter @EDSFootball, check out our Week 15 fantasy rankings at TheTipDrill.com or post your question in our Fantasy Football Forum.

Players to Start for Week 15:

QB - Matt Ryan, Falcons (at SEA): While Ryan may be a better "real-life" quarterback than a fantasy quarterback, he has posted solid numbers this season. In his past eight games, Ryan has thrown 15 touchdowns and only four interceptions. This week, Ryan and the Falcons head to the hostile environment of Quest Field in Seattle. But the good news for Ryan owners is that the Seahawks have allowed 266.0 passing yards per game and 23 passing touchdowns, which rank them 30th and 23rd in the NFL, respectively.

NEW ORLEANS - OCTOBER 03: Jonathan Stewart of the Carolina Panthers is tackled by Sedrick Ellis of the New Orleans Saints at the Louisiana Superdome on October 3, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints defeated the Panthers 16-14. (Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images)

RB - Jonathan Stewart, Panthers (vs ARI): For the first time this season, The Daily Show rushed for 100-plus yards. But he's had three solid performances after missing two games due to a concussion. During the three-game span, Stewart has rushed for 90-plus yards each week and a total of 323 yards on 51 carries -- that is a yards-per-carry average of 6.3. This week, the Panthers face the Cardinals, who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season.

RB - Tim Hightower, Cardinals (at CAR): Hightower has had double-digit carries and a yard-per-carry average of five-plus yards in three of his past four games. Beanie Wells, on the hand, has had only 22 total carries in his past four games and 24 rushing yards or less in three straight games. Last week against Denver, Hightower rushed for a season-high 148 yards and two touchdowns. This week, the Cardinals have another favorable matchup as the Panthers have allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season.

RB - Knowshon Moreno, Broncos (at OAK): In their first matchup this season, Moreno, the first of the team's two first-round draft picks in 2009, did not run the ball effectively -- less than four yards per carry. However, he caught two touchdown passes. Over the last four games, however, Moreno has produced strong numbers: 67 carries for 356 yards and three touchdowns plus 19 receptions for 170 yards. On average, he has 131.5 yards from scrimmage per game in that stretch.

RB - Brandon Jacobs, Giants (vs PHI): The Giants one-two rushing attack is firing on all cylinders. Both Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs have 200-plus rushing yards and three touchdowns each in the past two games. Jacobs has only 22 of the combined 58 carries the duo has over the past two weeks, but Jacobs had three more carries than Bradshaw in Week 14.

WR - Mike Williams, Bucs (vs DET): Over the past four weeks, Williams has not put up big numbers. During that stretch, the rookie receiver has only 12 receptions for 157 yards and two touchdowns and he has three or less receptions in three of those four games. Fellow rookie Arrelious Benn, who is having a quiet season, exploded for his best game of the season (122 yards) last week, but Williams still led the team in targets (five). Although Williams hasn't been tearing it up lately, I expect him to bounce back and remain the team's clear go-to receiver.

WR - Kenny Britt, Titans (vs HOU): In his first game back from injury, Britt caught four passes for 39 yards against the Colts. Although it wasn't close to the 225-yard, three-touchdown performance he had before the injury, Britt is the team's best option at receiver. This week, the Titans face the Texans, who have allowed a league-high 279.9 passing yards per game and 29 passing touchdowns.

WR - Deion Branch, Patriots (vs GB): It is amazing how Randy Moss has become fantasy irrelevant; Branch has become not only relevant but a fantasy force. In his past four games, Branch has 21 receptions for 398 yards and four touchdowns. He has scored in three straight games.

WR - Pierre Garcon, Colts (vs JAX): In his past two games, Garcon has scored three touchdowns. In his past four games, Garcon has 50-plus receiving yards in every game. Last week, someone asked me on Twitter whether to start Garcon or Derrick Mason. In hindsight, the answer should have been "yes" as both receivers had big two-touchdown weeks in Week 14.

TE - Owen Daniels, Texans (at TEN): In his first game back from injury, Daniels had five receptions for 91 yards. No other tight end had more receiving yards in Week 14. On the season, the Titans have allowed the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.

Players to Sit for Week 15:

Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton (R) is hit just after getting off a pass during the first quarter of the Broncos game against the Arizona Cardinals at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ December 12,2010. UPI/Art Foxall Photo via Newscom

QB - Kyle Orton, Broncos (at OAK): Two weeks ago, Orton was leading the NFL in passing yards. Fast forward two weeks and not only has Orton struggled but his grip on the starting job is tenuous. In his past two games, Orton has completed only 28 of 69 passes (41 percent) for 283 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions.

QB - Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers (vs NYJ): In his past three games, Roethlisberger has thrown for one touchdown -- not in each game but combined. With the exception of the game against the Patriots in Week 13, the Jets have allowed only one passing touchdown in each of their four games in the past five weeks. In those four games (excluding the Patriots), the Jets have allowed only 162.3 passing yards per game.

RB - LaDainian Tomlinson, Jets (at PIT): As a general rule, starting a running back facing the vaunted Pittsburgh Steelers run defense is risky. For seven straight games, Tomlinson has finished with less than 60 rushing yards. And over the past three games, LT2 is averaging under 60 yards from scrimmage (145 rushing and 33 receiving yards in three games) with no touchdowns.

RB - Pierre Thomas, Saints (at BAL): After an 11-week absence, Thomas returned to action in Week 14 and led the team in rushing attempts (12). The status of Chris Ivory, who left the game with a hamstring injury, is unknown, but if Ivory is able to go, he would likely be in line for the largest share of work out of the trio that also includes Reggie Bush. In either case, it's not easy to run on the Ravens in Baltimore.

RB - Cedric Benson, Bengals (vs CLE): In his past three games, Benson has carried the ball a combined 45 times for only 109 yards for an average of 2.4 yards per carry. While Benson did score twice in one of three games, the Browns, this week's opponent, have allowed only four rushing touchdowns, which ties them with Pittsburgh for the fewest allowed this season.

RB - Marshawn Lynch, Seahawks (vs ATL): Chances are that you aren't fooled by the three-touchdown game Lynch had two weeks ago if your team is still alive in semifinals week. With the exception of that three-touchdown, 83-yard performance, Lynch has been held to less than 50 rushing yards in six of seven games. The Falcons have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs this season despite two subpar performances in their past two games.

WR - Anquan Boldin, Ravens (vs NO): With the exception of the Steelers game, Boldin has 50 or less receiving yards in five of his past six games. This week, the Ravens face the Saints, who have allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this year. The Saints have allowed the fewest passing touchdowns (eight) this season. If you start only two receivers, Boldin is outside of my top 20 this week and would be on my bench.

WR - Brandon Lloyd, Broncos (at OAK): Despite being ranking third in the NFL in receiving yards (1,185), Lloyd has had only five receptions for 63 yards in his past two games combined. It's likely that elite cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha will shadow Lloyd and Kyle Orton's recent play means Lloyd will be sitting on my bench.

WR - Michael Crabtree, 49ers (at SD): One reception. One yard. That was what Crabtree did in Week 14. Over his past four games, Crabtree has a total of seven receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown. Against the Chargers, who lead the NFL in passing defense (173.4 yards per game), I have little confidence in the "diva receiver."

WR - Steve Johnson, Bills (at MIA): Johnson, who was one of the hottest receivers in the league, has had three weeks of mediocrity (minus). Against the Steelers, Johnson dropped a pass that would have won the game. In those past three games, Johnson finished with no touchdowns and 68, 36 and 42 receiving yards, respectively. The Dolphins have one of the league's top young corners in Vontae Davis, who will be matched up on Johnson.

TE - Dustin Keller, Jets (at PIT): For nine consecutive games, Keller has recorded single-digit fantasy games and has not scored a touchdown. During that span, Keller has only two games with more than 50 receiving yards. Based on standard scoring, Keller has scored 28 fantasy points in his past nine games for an average of 3.1 fantasy points per game.

Fantasy Football: Week 15 Wide Receiver (WR) Rankings

Earlier today, we updated our fantasy rankings for Week 15. Here are some notes on wide receivers and pass defenses heading into this week's games:

PHILADELPHIA - NOVEMBER 21: DeSean Jackson of the Philadelphia Eagles celebrates after a first down against the New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field on November 21, 2010 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Nick Laham/Getty Images)

- Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson had four receptions for a career-high 210 yards against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. In Week 15, the Eagles face the Giants, who have allowed 31 receptions of 20-plus yards. Only the Chargers have allowed less.

- Tampa rookie Arrelious Benn had his first 100-yard game of his career. However, fellow rookie Mike Williams is still the Tampa receiver to start even though he had only one reception last week.

- Pittsburgh's Hines Ward has two 100-yard games in the past three weeks. However, he also has less than 30 receiving yards in five of his past seven games.

- Atlanta's Roddy White, who has 99 receptions for 1,219 yards, became the first Falcon to have three 1,200-yard receiving seasons.

- Houston's Andre Johnson has back-to-back 140-yard games and six 100-yard games on the season. This week, the Texans face the Titans and Johnson was ejected for fighting with Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan three weeks ago.

- Baltimore's Derrick Mason finished with his best fantasy game of the season (six receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns) against the Texans. This week, the Ravens face the Saints, who have allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers this season.

- Denver's Brandon Lloyd has a total of five receptions for 63 yards and no touchdowns in the past two weeks. Oakland, this week's opponent, has allowed the sixth-fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers this season.

- The Redskins have not allowed a receiver to catch a touchdown pass for four consecutive games after allowing nine touchdowns in the previous four games. Cowboys receivers Miles Austin and Roy Williams haven't caught a touchdown pass in the past three and eight weeks, respectively.

Earlier today, we updated our fantasy rankings for Week 15. Here are some notes on running backs and run defenses heading into this week's games:

Dec 12, 2010; Jacksonville, FL, USA; Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden (20) heads up field against the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field. Photo via Newscom

- Raiders running back Darren McFadden had over 200 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns against the Jaguars in Week 14. McFadden has two favorable matchups against the Broncos and Colts in Weeks 15 and 16, respectively. The first time the Raiders faced the Broncos this season, McFadden rushed for 165 yards and scored four touchdowns (three rushing and one receiving).

- For a sixth consecutive game, Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 100-plus yards. Backup running back Rashad Jennings began his own streak with 109 yards.

- Bills running back Fred Jackson has three 100-yard rushing games and one 100-yard receiving games in his past five games. During that span, Jackson has 625 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns.

- Browns running back Peyton Hillis became the ninth player in franchise history to rush for 1,000 yards. On the season, Hillis has 1,070 rushing yards and 446 receiving yards on 53 receptions and has scored 13 total touchdowns in 13 games.

- Atlanta running back Michael Turner scored three touchdowns on Sunday and now has ten touchdowns in his past seven games. In addition, Turner has 100-plus yards in three of his past four games.

- Carolina's Jonathan Stewart rushed for 100-plus yards for the first time this season in Sunday's loss to the Falcons. The Panthers face the Cardinals, who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season, in Week 15.

- In his first game played since Week 8, Washington's Ryan Torain carried the ball 24 times for 172 yards. In his last four games played, Torain has three 100-yard games. He was injured in the other game.

Fantasy Football: Week 15 Quarterback (QB) Rankings

This morning, we updated our fantasy rankings for Week 15. Here are some notes on quarterbacks and pass defenses heading into this week's games:

CINCINNATI, OH - DECEMBER 05: Dree Brees of the New Orleans Saints celebrates after a touchdown during the NFL game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium on December 5, 2010 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Saints won 34-30. (Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)

- New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees became the first player in NFL history to throw for 20,000-plus yards and 150-plus touchdowns in his first five seasons with a new team.

- In Week 14, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a concussion, which puts his status for Week 15 against the Patriots in jeopardy.

- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has thrown for 300-plus yards in three consecutive games, two-plus touchdowns for six consecutive games and no interceptions in eight consecutive games.

- Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has thrown eight touchdowns in his first four games and eight touchdowns in his next nine games. The difference, however, has been the interceptions: zero in the first four games and 11 in the past nine games.

- San Diego's Philip Rivers has thrown 25-plus touchdowns in three consecutive seasons. He is the only Chargers quarterback to ever accomplish that feat.

- With three games to go, Jaguars quarterback David Garrard tied the franchise record for passing touchdowns in a season (20).

- Buffalo's Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown a touchdown pass in 14 straight games. That is the second-longest streak in franchise history behind Jim Kelly's streak of 18 games.

- In his past two games, Denver's Kyle Orton has completed only 28 of 69 passes (41 percent) for 283 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions.

Here are my top ten fantasy quarterbacks for Week 15:

1. Tom Brady, Patriots (vs GB)
2. Drew Brees, Saints (at BAL)

December 15, 2010

Steve Smith (NYG) out for season

Giants receiver Steve Smith missed four weeks with a torn pectoral muscle.

Although he returned in Week 14, he will now miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a knee injury in the Vikings game.

"I feel bad for Steve," coach Tom Coughlin said, per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. "He fights his way back, he gets back on the field, he gets a little bit acclimated to game conditions again and then is injured, so our thoughts and the entire thoughts of our team are for Steve at this time."

After having a breakout campaign in 2009 (107-1,220-7), Hakeem Nicks leapfrogged Smith to become the team's go-to (and most productive) receiver.

In nine games, Smith has had 48 receptions for 529 yards and three touchdowns this season.

December 13, 2010

David Garrard ties franchise record for passing touchdowns

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard tied the franchise record for most passing touchdowns in a season after throwing three touchdowns on Sunday.

Garrard now has 20 passing touchdowns, which is something that Mark Brunell did twice (1998 and 2000).

"It's very important because when you're breaking records, scoring touchdowns, that means you're doing some good things," Garrard said, per Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union. "You're giving your team an opportunity and a chance to win. We needed every point today. Those were big catches today by Mike Sims-Walker and Marcedes."

As Ganguli points out, the Jaguars are 7-0 when Garrard throws two-plus touchdowns in a game this season.

Garrard has thrown 19 of his 20 touchdowns and only five of his 12 interceptions in wins. In other words, he has thrown only one touchdown and seven interceptions in losses.

In their final three games, the Jaguars face the Colts, Redskins and Texans, who have allowed 17, 19 and 27 passing touchdowns this season, respectively.

December 12, 2010

DeSean Jackson has career-high 210 receiving yards

Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson is one of the most explosive players in the NFL capable of turning any play into a big play.

Last year, Jackson and the Eagles faced the Dallas Cowboys three times including their playoff matchup. In those three games, Jackson had a total of eight receptions for only 90 yards.

Although he had only four receptions in tonight's win against the Cowboys, Jackson finished with a career-high 210 receiving yards.

On the season, Jackson now has 42 receptions for 972 yards and five touchdowns. His average of 23.1 yards per reception is much higher that he had in his first two seasons: 14.7 in 2008 and 18.5 in 2009.

Next week, the Eagles face the Giants, who have allowed 45 receptions of 20-plus yards. Only four teams have allowed more.

The Sunday Blitz

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers became the first quarterback in franchise history to throw 25-plus touchdowns in three consecutive seasons.

SAN DIEGO - DECEMBER 12: Quarterback Philip Rivers of the San Diego Chargers laughs as he talks to linebacker Mike Vrabel of the Kansas City Chiefs at Qualcomm Stadium on December 12, 2010 in San Diego, California. the Chargers won 31-0. (Photo by Stephen Dunn/Getty Images)

Rivers threw both of his touchdown passes to receiver Malcom Floyd, who had his first multi-touchdown game since high school.

Meanwhile, Chiefs quarterback Brody Croyle, who started for Matt Cassel, has now lost all ten games he's started in his career. Croyle completed only seven passes for 40 yards.

Chiefs running back Thomas Jones entered today's game needing 18 rushing yards to reach the 10,000-yard milestone. He finished the game needing 17 more. Jones had three carries for only one yard.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown a touchdown in 14 consecutive games, which is the second-longest streak in franchise history.

In the first four games of the season, Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez threw eight touchdowns and no interceptions. In his next nine games, Sanchez has thrown eight touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Seattle receiver Deon Butler, who had five receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown, left today's game with a broken leg.

With the Vikings-Giants game moved to Ford Field in Detroit tomorrow night, tickets are free and the fans in attendance are looking to root for the Giants (and/or against the Vikings).

The Patriots, who beat the Bears 36-7, clinched a playoff berth.

The Jaguars are one win away from clinching the AFC South after today's win over the Raiders.

Falcons receiver Roddy White, who has 99 receptions for 1,219 yards this season, became the first Falcon to have three 1,200-yard receiving seasons.

Tampa Bay lost two more starters -- defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and linebacker Quincy Black -- for the season. That is six starters in three weeks.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees became the first quarterback in NFL history to pass for 20,000-plus yards and 150-plus touchdowns in his first five seasons with a new team.

Cardinals running back Tim Hightower rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns against the Broncos. Beanie Wells, who had six carries for 16 yards, left the game with a "stomach illness."

Eagles linebacker Stewart Bradley suffered a dislocated elbow in tonight's game against the Cowboys.

Steelers receiver Hines Ward now has 944 career receptions, which ranks him tenth all-time in the NFL.

Jets strength coach Sal Alosi tripped Miami's Nolan Carroll and apologized saying, "... I accept responsibility for my actions as well as any punishment that follows."

Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall believes that the Jets should bury one of their balls similar to what they did last week after their loss to the Patriots, per Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer argues that rookie quarterback Jimmy Clausen is not the guy to lead the Panthers beyond the 2010 season.

Arizona kicker Jay Feely became the fourth kicker since 1970 to score a touchdown.

Buffalo wide receiver Lee Evans could miss the rest of the season with a high-ankle sprain, per Allen Wilson of the Buffalo News.

(Nearly) perfect half-season for Tom Brady

In today's win over the Bears, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw for a season-high 369 yards. Receivers Deion Branch (151 yards) and Wes Welker (115 yards) accounted for nearly three-quarters of his passing yards.

Brady has now thrown for 300-plus yards in three consecutive games and in four of his past five games. In the first eight games of the season, Brady never threw for more than 292 yards in any game.

Over the past eight games, however, Brady has thrown 19 touchdowns and no interceptions. He now has a streak of six games with two-plus touchdowns.

On the season, Brady has thrown 29 touchdowns and only four interceptions.

The Patriots face the Packers on Sunday Night Football next week and then the Bills and Dolphins to close out the regular season.

Ivory has hamstring injury, Thomas leads Saints in carries

In his previous three games, Saints running back Chris Ivory scored in each game and a total of five rushing touchdowns.

Today Ivory, who was off to a good start (seven rushes for 47 yards), left the game early with a hamstring injury.

That meant that Pierre Thomas, who hadn't played since Week 3, led the team in rushing attempts (12) and Reggie Bush had nine carries as well in today's 31-13 win over the Rams.

Both Thomas and Bush had 39 rushing yards each. In addition, Thomas caught four passes for 29 yards while Bush caught five passes for 22 yards.

Provided Ivory is ready to go for Week 15 against the Chiefs, he should remain the team's featured back.

Previously coach Sean Payton said, "Chris has done a number of good things, and I don't want to affect his snap count at all in regards to his carries."

The Saints' offense has been firing on all cylinders -- scoring 30-plus points in five consecutive games.

Ryan Torain runs all over the Bucs in loss

Redskins running back Ryan Torain entered Week 14 as the team's leading rusher (391 yards) despite having not played since Week 8.

After returning to action this week, Torain widened his lead -- by a lot.

Torain carried the ball 24 times for 172 yards and he caught two passes for ten yards in today's one-point loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In his last four games played, Torain has rushed 20-plus times for 100-plus yards three times. In the game he did not, he left in the first half with the hamstring injury that kept him out an additional four games.

Teammate Keiland Williams finished with 76 yards from scrimmage (16 rushing and 60 receiving) although James Davis had no touches.

Next week, the Redskins face the Cowboys, who have held opposing running backs to less than 100 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Arrelious Benn gets first 100-yard game of his career

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted two rookie wide receivers in this year's NFL Draft: Arrelious Benn (39th overall) and Mike Williams (101st overall).

Through 12 games, it was the fourth-rounder (Williams) that outproduced the second-rounder (Benn) and it wasn't even close.

Entering today's game versus the Redskins, Williams caught 51 passes for 769 yards and seven touchdowns -- all team-highs.

On the other hand, Benn ranked fifth on the team in receptions (17) and receiving yards (223).

For the first time in his career, however, Benn finished with more than 100 yards (122, to be exact).

Williams, who had only one reception for 15 yards, still lead the team in targets (five) today. Meanwhile, Benn, Kellen Winslow and Cadillac Williams all had four targets.

Pocket Hercules extends 100-yard game streak to six games

Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has now extended his streak of 100-yard rushing games to six with his 101-yard performance against the Oakland Raiders.

During those six games, the Jaguars have won five of them.

Both MJD and Rashad Jennings rushed for 100-plus yards today as did Oakland's Darren McFadden, who finished with over 200 yards from scrimmage.

Jennings, who appeared on this week's list of free-agent pickups, only had five carries, but he made the most of them. Not only did he rush for 109 yards, but he extended his touchdown streak to three games.

In his past three games, Jennings has 22 carries for 206 yards and three touchdowns.

Over 200 yards from scrimmage and three TDs for Darren McFadden

After losing by a touchdown to the Jaguars today, the Raiders have lost three of their past four games. However, Raiders running back Darren McFadden did more than his fair share in defeat.

The third-year running back led the team in both rushing and receiving today.

McFadden, the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, had 16 carries for 123 yards and two touchdowns and caught three passes for 86 yards and a touchdown.

Through today's game, McFadden has 993 rushing yards and 437 receiving yards and ten total touchdowns on the season.

The great news for fantasy owners is that the Raiders face the Broncos and Colts in Weeks 15 and 16, respectively. Entering today's games, the Broncos and Colts have allowed the second-most and fourth-most rushing yards this season.

The Daily Show gets first 100-yard game of season

For the first time this season, Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart had a 100-yard game.

The Daily Show had 18 carries for 133 yards and has now had three strong performances after missing two games with a concussion.

During that three-game stretch, Stewart has 51 carries for 323 yards. That's an average of 107.3 yards per game and 6.3 yards per carry.

His next two matchups couldn't be more different from each other.

Next week, the Panthers face the Cardinals, who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. In Week 16, the Panthers face the Steelers, who lead the NFL in rushing defense.

Three TDs for Michael Turner today

For the third time in his past four games, Falcons running back Michael "The Burner" Turner rushed for 100-plus yards.

Turner, who scored three touchdowns today, extended his touchdown streak to four straight games and he now has ten touchdowns in his past seven games.

In the first six games of the season, Turner carried the ball 20-plus times in only one game. In his six of his past seven games, Turner has 20-plus carries.

Next week, the Falcons face the Seahawks, who have allowed 100-plus rushing yards in six of their past seven games.

Peyton Hillis goes over 1,000 yards

Browns running back Peyton Hillis became the franchise's ninth 1,000-yard rusher as he rushed for 108 yards against the Bills today.

Jamal Lewis was the last Brown to rush for 1,000 yards in 2008 and Jim Brown holds the franchise record with seven 1,000-yard seasons.

Today marked the fifth time this season that Hillis eclipsed the 100-yard mark.

On the season, he has 1,070 rushing yards and 446 receiving yards on 53 receptions. In addition, Hillis has scored 13 touchdowns (11 rushing and two receiving) in 13 games.

The Browns face their three AFC North rivals in the next three weeks. Fortunately for fantasy owners in leagues where the playoffs end in Week 16, the Browns face the Steelers, who lead the NFL in rushing defense, in Week 17.

Third 100-yard rushing game in five weeks for Fred Jackson

For the third time in five games, Bills running back Fred Jackson rushed for 100-plus yards. In each of those three 100-yard games, Jackson had 20-plus carries.

Against the Browns today, Jackson finished with 29 carries for 112 yards.

In addition to the three 100-yard rushing games, Jackson had a 100-yard receiving game against the Steelers in Week 12.

Over his past five games, Jackson has 625 yards from scrimmage (462 rushing and 163 receiving) and five touchdowns (three rushing and two receiving).

The Bills face their three AFC East rivals in the next three weeks: Miami, New England and the New York Jets.

Aaron Rodgers knocked out of game with a concussion

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers won't return after suffering a concussion in today's game against the Lions, per NFL.com's Frank Tadych.

This is the second time this season that Rodgers has suffered a concussion.

Before leaving today's game, Rodgers completed 7-of-11 passes for 46 yards and an interception in addition to two rushing attempts for 25 yards. He suffered the concussion on his 18-yard run when his head slammed onto the turf at Ford Field.

The Packers currently trail the Bears, who face the Patriots later today, by one game in the NFC North. Next week, the Packers face the Patriots on Sunday Night Football.

Charles, Chiefs agree to five-year extension

The Kansas City Chiefs lead the NFL in rushing (175.2 yards per game). Jamaal Charles leads the Chiefs in rushing (1,137 yards).

What's that worth?

Well, the Chiefs and Charles agreed today to a five-year contract extension worth $32.5 million, of which $13 million guaranteed, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Although Thomas Jones (187) has more carries than Charles (182) this season, Charles has nearly 400 more rushing yards than Jones.

That said, Charles has had 20-plus carries in each of his past two games. In the first ten games of the season, he had only one 20-carry game.

Charles leads the NFL in yards per carry (6.2) and is tied for third in rushing yards with Tennessee's Chris Johnson.

In his past 16 games (12 this year and last four from 2009), Charles has a total of 2,253 yards from scrimmage -- 1,795 rushing yards and 458 receiving yards.

Post-season "strength of schedule" for fantasy football

As the Colts and Titans face off on Thursday Night Football (discuss game here), the fantasy football playoffs officially begin for most leagues.

Earlier this morning, we released our fantasy football rankings for Week 14: QB | RB | WR | TE | K | DEF

Curious about which teams have the most (or least) fantasy-friendly schedules over the next three weeks?

Whether you are (or aren't), I'm going to tell you anyways.

Based on what each team allows, on average, in fantasy points to each position, I totaled up the points allowed by each team's opponents over the next three weeks using standard scoring. Using those numbers, I arrived a "strength of schedule" ranking for each position (quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers).

As an example, the Denver Broncos face the Arizona Cardinals (13.5 fantasy points allowed per game), Oakland Raiders (15.5) and Houston Texans (20.0) in Weeks 14 to 16. That adds up to 49 fantasy points. I repeated the process for the other 31 teams and did the same for running backs and wide receivers.

The teams ranked towards the top have the most favorable fantasy schedule during the post-season. The teams ranked towards the bottom have the least favorable schedules.

LONDON, ENGLAND - OCTOBER 31: Kyle Orton of Denver Broncos gives instructions during the NFL International Series match between Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers at Wembley Stadium on October 31, 2010 in London, England. 28. St. Louis Rams (53.9)
29. New England Patriots (53.0)
30. Atlanta Falcons (52.4)
31. Cincinnati Bengals (52.1)
32. Kansas City Chiefs (50.6)

Not only was Kansas City receiver Dwayne Bowe shut out by Champ Bailey last week, he has to face the toughest schedule from a fantasy perspective over the next three weeks and possibly without quarterback Matt Cassel, who had an appendectomy yesterday.

Of course, when setting your lineup(s) for Week 14, 15 or 16, the cumulative strength of schedule should not factor into your decision.

Fantasy Football: Week 14 Quarterback (QB) Rankings

This morning, we updated our fantasy rankings for Week 14.

- Saints quarterback Drew Brees has thrown for 300-plus yards in five of his past six games. In his first six games this year, Brees threw only one 300-yard game.

- In his first nine games of the season, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning threw only four interceptions. In Week 13, Manning threw four interceptions. And over his past three games, Manning has thrown a total of 11 interceptions.

- Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers has thrown 11 touchdowns and no interceptions in his past four games.

- Denver's Kyle Orton entered Week 13 as the NFL leader in passing yards. He finished trailing the leader by 222 yards and fell to fourth place.

- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has thrown 219 pass attempts in his past seven games. During that span, Brady has thrown 17 touchdowns and no interceptions.

- After Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo suffered a broken collarbone, receiver Roy Williams made a comment about Jon Kitna being "just as good." Although that is untrue, the numbers are pretty close between Kitna (148-226, 1,703 yards, 11 TDs, 8 INTs) and Romo (148-213, 1,605 yards, 11 TDs, 7 INTs).

- Panthers quarterbacks have combined for seven touchdowns and 18 interceptions in 12 games. Rookie Jimmy Clausen has thrown only one touchdown pass in 200 attempts.

- Chicago's Jay Cutler has 16 touchdowns and only five interceptions in the team's eight wins when he has played. In their three losses, Cutler has thrown one touchdown and five interceptions.

- Kansas City's Matt Cassel, who had an appendectomy on Wednesday, is unlikely to be able to play on Sunday. Since the team's bye (Week 4), Cassel has thrown 19 touchdowns and only one interception.

Here are my top ten fantasy quarterbacks for Week 14:

1. Aaron Rodgers, Packers (at DET)
2. Tom Brady, Patriots (at CHI)
3. Michael Vick, Eagles (at DAL)
4. Drew Brees, Saints (vs STL)
5. Philip Rivers, Chargers (vs KC)
6. Joe Flacco, Ravens (at HOU)
7. Peyton Manning, Colts (at TEN)
8. Kyle Orton, Broncos (at ARI)
9. Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers (vs CIN)
10. Matt Ryan, Falcons (at CAR)

Fantasy Football: Week 14 Running Back (RB) Rankings

This morning, we updated our fantasy rankings for Week 14. Here are some notes on running backs and run defenses heading into this week's games:

KANSAS CITY, MO - DECEMBER 05: Jamaal Charles of the Kansas City Chiefs celebrates by jumping into the crowd after scoring a touchdown that was eventually called back during the game against the Denver Broncos on December 5, 2010 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

- For a second straight week, Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles had 20-plus carries and 100-plus yards.

- Rams running back Steven Jackson reached the 100-yard mark for the first time in five games. Continuing to be the team's workhorse running back, Jackson has 20-plus carries in nine of the team's 12 games this season.

- On the season, Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno has two 100-yard games. Both of those happened against the Kansas City Chiefs. Although he's not playing the Chiefs this week (or any more this season), the Broncos face the Cardinals, who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season.

- Houston's Arian Foster leads the NFL in yards from scrimmage (1,709). Trailing the single-season record set by Tennessee's Chris Johnson (2,509), Foster needs 200 yards from scrimmage per game to tie the record.

- Seattle's Marshawn Lynch, who had 140 rushing yards in his previous five games, rushed for 83 yards and three touchdowns against the Panthers on Sunday.

- Packers running back James Starks got his first NFL carry on Sunday. And then the Packers gave him 17 more -- at the expense of Brandon Jackson, who had only four carries. This week, the Packers face the Lions, who have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs.

- Cowboys running back Tashard Choice, who appeared on this week's free-agent pickup list, had 19 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown against the Colts on Sunday. But Felix Jones also had 22 rushing attempts for 83 yards.

- Raiders running backs Darren McFadden and Michael Bush both rushed for 19-plus carries and 95-plus yards and each running back scored a touchdown against the Chargers.

- Giants running backs Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw took turns, sort-of, running over the Albert Haynesworth-less Redskins. The duo combined for 200 rushing yards and four touchdowns although Bradshaw got 25 of the duo's 33 rushing attempts.

- Saints running back Chris Ivory rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns against the Bengals on Sunday. Ivory now has five touchdowns over his past three games.

- 49ers running backs Brian Westbrook and Anthony Dixon both finished with nine rushing attempts against the Packers.

- New England's BenJarvus Green-Ellis has scored five touchdowns in his past three games and 11 touchdowns in 12 games this season. The Bears haven't allowed a running back to rush for a touchdown in four consecutive games.

Here are my top ten fantasy running backs for Week 14:

1. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars (vs OAK)
2. Peyton Hillis, Browns (at BUF)
3. Michael Turner, Falcons (at CAR)
4. Adrian Peterson, Vikings (vs NYG)
5. Chris Johnson, Titans (vs IND)
6. Arian Foster, Texans (vs BAL)
7. Rashard Mendenhall, Steelers (vs CIN)
8. Knowshon Moreno, Broncos (at ARI)
9. Jamaal Charles, Chiefs (at SD)
10. LeSean McCoy, Eagles (at DAL)

Fantasy Football: Week 14 Wide Receiver (WR) Rankings

This morning, we updated our fantasy rankings for Week 14. Here are some notes on wide receivers and pass defenses heading into this week's games:

ATLANTA - OCTOBER 24: Terrell Owens of the Cincinnati Bengals against the Atlanta Falcons at Georgia Dome on October 24, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

- In his past four games, Bengals receiver Terrell Owens has 16 receptions for 191 yards (47.8 yards per game) and two touchdowns. In his previous five games, Owens had 41 receptions for 618 yards (123.6 YPG) and seven touchdowns. The one thing that has been consistent is that the Bengals have lost all nine games.

- In Week 13, Bears receiver Earl Bennett had his first 100-yard game of the season. In his past seven games, Bennett has 50-plus yards five times.

- Colts receiver Reggie Wayne had a season-high 200 receiving yards against the Cowboys on Sunday. He now has two games with 14-plus receptions and 196-plus yards this season.

- Washington's Anthony Armstrong, who appeared on my free-agent pickup list, had his best game of his career -- six receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown. For nine consecutive games, Armstrong has 40-plus receiving yards.

- For a third consecutive week, Packers receiver Greg Jennings has gone over 100 yards. In his past four games, Jennings has 25 receptions for 473 yards and six touchdowns.

- Titans receiver Randy Moss finished with just one reception for 13 yards. With Kenny Britt expected to return in Week 14, it is likely that Moss remains fantasy irrelevant.

- Patriots receiver Wes Welker has 72 receptions on the season with four games to go. Over his past four games, Welker has 28 receptions for 317 yards and four touchdowns. Will he finish with 100-plus receptions for a fourth-consecutive season?

- Based on the first 12 games of the season, Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald is on pace for 84-1,052-7. Those would be the lowest totals of his career except for his injury-shortened (hamstring) 2006 season and rookie year.

- Atlanta's Roddy White has a career-high 91 receptions through 12 games. In his previous three seasons, White finished with 83-88 receptions each season.

Here are my top ten fantasy wide receivers for Week 14:

1. Greg Jennings, Packers (at DET)
2. Andre Johnson, Texans (vs BAL)
3. Roddy White, Falcons (at CAR)
4. Reggie Wayne, Colts (at TEN)
5. Calvin Johnson, Lions (vs GB)
6. Brandon Lloyd, Broncos (at ARI)
7. Marques Colston, Saints (vs STL)
8. Miles Austin, Cowboys (vs PHI)
9. Dwayne Bowe, Chiefs (at SD)
10. Anquan Boldin, Ravens (at HOU)

Fantasy Football: Week 14 Tight End (TE) Rankings

This morning, we updated our fantasy rankings for Week 14. Here are some notes on tight ends and pass defenses heading into this week's games:

MIAMI - DECEMBER 14: Tight end Vernon Davis #85 of the San Francisco 49ers celebrates after making a catch against the Miami Dolphins at Dolphin Stadium on December 14, 2008 in Miami, Florida. The Dolphins defeated the 49ers 14-9. (Photo by Doug Benc/Getty Images)

- San Francisco's Vernon Davis had his best game of the season in Week 13 (four receptions for 126 yards and a touchdown).

- Baltimore's Todd Heap left last week's game with a hamstring injury. Although he hasn't been officially ruled out for Week 14 yet, it's unlikely that he will play against the Texans, who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season.

- In his past four games, Jets tight end Dustin Keller has 12 receptions for 108 yards and no touchdowns. His best game during that span was four catches for 49 yards.

- Bears tight end Greg Olsen has had only one reception in each of his past two games for nine and five yards, respectively. That said, Olsen has caught a touchdown pass in three of his past five games.

- Detroit's Brandon Pettigrew has four-plus receptions in nine of his 12 games. He's tied for second with Washington's Chris Cooley amongst all tight ends with 60 receptions.

- Jason Witten leads tight ends in receptions (65) and is second in receiving yards (702). This week (and in Week 17), Witten faces the Eagles, who have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season.

- Saints rookie tight end Jimmy Graham has 14 receptions for 216 yards and a touchdown in his past four games. Even with Jeremy Shockey returning in Week 13, Graham finished with three receptions for 72 yards.

- Cleveland's Ben Watson, who was on this week's list of free-agent pickups, had ten receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown last week. This week, he faces Buffalo, who has allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.

- In his past five games, Oakland's Zach Miller has five receptions for 28 yards and no touchdowns. During that span, Miller has failed to reach ten receiving yards in any game. That means, if you're in a standard-scoring league that does not award fractional points, Miller last scored a fantasy point on October 24th.

Here are my top ten fantasy tight ends for Week 14:

1. Vernon Davis, 49ers (vs SEA)
2. Jason Witten, Cowboys (vs PHI)
3. Antonio Gates, Chargers (vs KC)
4. Jacob Tamme, Colts (at TEN)
5. Tony Gonzalez, Falcons (at CAR)
6. Benjamin Watson, Browns (at BUF)
7. Brandon Pettigrew, Lions (vs GB)
8. Marcedes Lewis, Jaguars (vs OAK)
9. Chris Cooley, Redskins (vs TB)
10. Kellen Winslow, Bucs (at WAS)

Appendectomy likely to sideline Matt Cassel for Week 14

The Kansas City Chiefs have a two-game lead over the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers in the AFC West.

Two games -- this week against the Chargers and next week against the Rams -- may be the amount of time that they are without quarterback Matt Cassel, who had an appendectomy this morning.

Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star describes Cassel missing two weeks as being the "best-case scenario."

At practice today, Brody Croyle, who hasn't played since Week 13 of the 2009 season, took the first-team reps and Tyler Palko, who was promoted from the practice squad, was the backup.

That said, the team hasn't ruled Cassel out for Week 14 and say that he will return to "work" this week.

On the season, Cassel has thrown 23 touchdowns and four interceptions. However, his touchdown-to-interception ratio since the team's bye (Week 4) has been 19-to-1.

With the assumption that Cassel will miss -- and Croyle will start -- this week, neither of them will appear in my ranking of top 25 fantasy quarterbacks for Week 14.

Fantasy Football: Free-agent Pickups for Week 14

Every week, we compile a list of players that may be worth targeting off the waiver wire.

For players to appear on our list, they need to satisfy two factors: (1) they are owned in less than half of Yahoo! leagues and (2) they did not appear on our previous week's list of potential additions. Of course, the other criteria is that we believe they could be useful to fantasy teams based on the depth of the league so I guess there are three factors.

Here are some players potentially worth adding this week:

QB - David Garrard, Jaguars (owned in 43 percent of Yahoo! leagues):
Out of the quarterbacks that are owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Garrard is the best option. Typically fantasy championships are in Week 16, but if your league has theirs in Week 17, Garrard has two favorable matchups in the last two weeks of the season: Washington and Houston. While Garrard has failed to throw a touchdown in each of his past two games, he's rushed for a touchdown in both games.

Aug. 14, 2010 - Oxnard, California, United States of America - Aug 14, 2010: Dallas Cowboys running back TASHARD CHOICE.

RB - Tashard Choice, Cowboys (12 percent): Facing one of the league's worst run defenses, Choice finished the day with 100 rushing yards and a touchdown. With Marion Barber expected to miss two games counting Week 13, Choice should have fantasy value for at least one more week even with Felix Jones getting the starting nod. In his career, Choice has 189 rushing attempts for 959 yards, which is an average of 5.1 yards per carry.

RB - James Starks, Packers (seven percent): In Sunday's win over the 49ers, Starks got the first carry of his NFL career. And then he got 17 more. Meanwhile, Brandon Jackson had only four rushing attempts. Starks finished the day with 73 rushing yards, which is a respectable 4.1 yards per carry against the 49ers. San Francisco is one of eight teams to limit the opposition to under 100 rushing yards per game on average this season. Next week, the Packers face the Lions, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing running backs.

RB - Rashad Jennings, Jaguars (two percent): Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has rushed for 100-plus yards in five consecutive games. While Jennings is the backup, he's had solid games in back-to-back weeks. In those two games, Jennings has 17 carries for 97 yards and two touchdowns. At a minimum, Jennings should be owned as a handcuff to MJD as the Jaguars have favorable fantasy playoff matchups against the Raiders, Colts and Redskins. Those three teams all rank in the bottom seven NFL teams against the run.

RB - James Davis, Redskins (two percent): For a second week in a row, Davis led the Redskins in rushing attempts (nine). Davis finished the game with 40 rushing yards and 41 receiving yards. Davis is worth a look in deeper leagues. That said, I'd keep all Redskins running backs out of my starting lineup at this point.

WR - Davone Bess, Dolphins (48 percent):
In nine of his 12 games, Bess has five-plus receptions. Bess, who has 12 receptions for 178 yards in his last two games, is on pace to set career-highs in receptions (81), yards (890) and touchdowns (four). The Dolphins have better matchups in Weeks 15 to 17 (Bills, Lions and Patriots) than they have in Week 14 (Jets).

WR - Roy Williams, Cowboys (47 percent):
With rookie Dez Bryant out for the year with a broken ankle, the other Cowboys receivers should see a boost in their targets and fantasy value. Since Week 7, Williams has failed to score a touchdown and has only one game with more than 33 receiving yards. But in his first five games, Williams scored five touchdowns and had at least three receptions every week. His Week 14 matchup (Eagles) isn't as good as Weeks 15 and 16 (Redskins and Cardinals, respectively).

WR - Anthony Armstrong, Redskins (six percent):
Armstrong, who has had nine consecutive games with at least 40 receiving yards, set career highs in receptions (six) and receiving yards (97) on Sunday while also scoring a touchdown. On the season, Armstrong has 31 receptions for 642 yards. Only three players have more 40-yard receptions than Armstrong has (five).

WR - Earl Bennett, Bears (seven percent):
For a second straight game, Bennett finished with 50-plus receiving yards. Bennett, who finished with seven receptions for 104 yards in Week 13, has five 50-yard games in his past seven games played. Bennett ranks second on the team in receptions (39) and yards (457).

WR - Mohamed Massaquoi, Browns (13 percent):
For a third consecutive week and fourth time in the past five weeks, Massaquoi finished with 50-plus receiving yards. In addition, Massaquoi has had four-plus receptions in each of those 50-yard games. While Massaquoi is the third option in the Browns' passing game behind tight end Ben Watson and running back Peyton Hillis, he's worth a look in deeper leagues.

TE - Ben Watson, Browns (31 percent): Against the Dolphins on Sunday, Watson finished with ten receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown. While Watson had his best game of the season, it was his fifth game with 60-plus receiving yards and eighth game with 40-plus receiving yards. With a matchup against the Bills, who have allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season, Watson will likely rank in my top ten fantasy tight ends for Week 14.

Later in the week, we will release our Week 14 fantasy football rankings at TheTipDrill.com, our fantasy section. At any point, however, feel free to submit your specific questions (waiver wire, trade proposals, start/sit questions, etc.) to us via our Fantasy Football Forum or Twitter @EDSFootball.

Pierre Thomas to have "no limitations" at practice this week?

Saints running back Pierre Thomas expects to practice this week with "no limitations," per ESPN.

Thomas, who has missed the past nine games, hasn't played since Week 3. Although he is only averaging 3.2 yards per carry, Thomas has 280 yards from scrimmage (147 rushing yards and 133 receiving yards) and 17 receptions in those three games.

With fellow back Chris Ivory playing so well lately, how will the coaching staff reintegrate Thomas into the running back rotation?

"Chris has done a number of good things and I don't want to affect his snap count at all in regards to his carries," Payton said. "We'll be smart about who's up and then having the plan that we think is best for our team, but certainly [Ivory] has earned the reps that he's getting now and the touches that he's getting now. He's a different type of runner than either Pierre or Reggie or Julius [Jones]."

Last week, Ivory finished with 117 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He now has five touchdowns in his past three games.

With fantasy playoffs set to begin in most leagues this week, the Saints face three tough rush defenses in their next three games: St. Louis, Baltimore and Atlanta. All three teams have allowed five rushing touchdowns on the season; only the Browns and Steelers have allowed fewer (four).

Seattle's Mike Williams could "miss a game or more"

After missing Week 12, Seattle receiver Mike Williams returned to the team's starting lineup in Week 13 although you may not have noticed.

Before Williams recorded a single reception, he left the game with sprained left ankle in the first quarter.

Per Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network, Williams is expected to miss at least one more week. La Canfora tweeted this morning, "Seahawks expect Mike Williams will miss a game or more. Situation is 'not good' says team source. Not an IR issue, but may be out few weeks."

However, Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times tweeted that Williams "has not been ruled out for this week's game" against the 49ers.

Williams, who was the Lions' first-round pick in 2005, has 52 receptions for 654 yards and a touchdown this season.

The Sunday Blitz

For the fifth time in six games, Saints quarterback Drew Brees threw for 300-plus yards. In his first six games of the season, Brees had only one 300-yard game.

CHARLOTTE, NC - NOVEMBER 07: Chris Ivory of the New Orleans Saints against the Carolina Panthers during their game at Bank of America Stadium on November 7, 2010 in Charlotte, North Carolina. (Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)

Saints running back Chris Ivory rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns in today's win over the Bengals. Ivory has scored in three straight games and has five touchdowns during that span.

On the other hand, Bengals receiver Terrell Owens expressed his frustration in the post-game press conference saying, “Dude, it doesn’t matter if I’m 46 (years old) or 47. I ball when I’m out there. All I want is opportunities... The film don’t lie. The film don’t lie. Watch it. Watch it."

In his past four games, Owens has 16 receptions for 191 yards (47.8 yards per game) and two touchdowns. In his previous five games, Owens had 41 receptions for 618 yards (123.6 YPG) and seven touchdowns.

The one thing that has been a constant during those nine games is the outcome for the Bengals, who are on a nine-game losing streak.

Bears receiver Earl Bennett had his first 100-yard game of the season. Bennett, who has five 50-yard games in his past seven games played, finished with seven receptions for 104 yards.

The good? Lions quarterback Drew Stanton rushed for a three-yard touchdown for the first score of the Lions-Bears game. The bad? Stanton doing the Dougie.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw three touchdowns and no interceptions today. In his past four games, Rodgers has 11 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Packers running back James Starks got the first rushing attempt of his NFL career. And then he got 17 more ... at the expense of teammate Brandon Jackson, who finished with only four rushing attempts.

Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno rushed for a season-high 161 yards against the Chiefs today. In fact, Moreno has two 100-yard games on the season; both against the Chiefs.

Not only did Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe fail to extend his seven-game scoring streak, he failed to haul in a reception.

Vikings quarterback Brett Favre threw only one pass, an interception, before leaving today's game with a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, running back Adrian Peterson and wide receiver Sidney Rice had more than 100 yards rushing and receiving, respectively, and both had multi-touchdown games.

The Vikings scored more points (38) today than they did in any other game this season.

Giants running backs Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw combined for 200 rushing yards and four touchdowns in today's win over the Redskins. That said, the workload was not evenly split as Bradshaw had 25 carries and Jacobs had only eight.

For the fourth time in the past five games, Titans receiver Randy Moss finished with one (or no) reception(s). Today he caught one pass for 13 yards.

Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew finished with 186 rushing yards against the Titans today. He now has rushed for 100-plus yards in five straight games.

In today's game against the Browns, Dolphins kicker Dan Carpenter set a franchise record by kicking a 60-yard field goal.

The Chargers saw their streak of 18 consecutive December victories end with today's loss to the Raiders, who swept the Chargers for the first time since 2001.

Both Darren McFadden and Michael Bush finished with 19-plus carries and 95-plus yards in today's victory. The Chargers, on the other hand, had only eight rushing attempts.

The Falcons became the NFL's first ten-win team by beating the Bucs 24-20. After tomorrow night, there will be two ten-win teams as the Jets and Patriots (both 9-2) face each other on Monday Night Football.

Speaking of Monday Night Football, our fantasy football contest is based on Monday Night Football matchups and tomorrow's game is your last chance to make the "playoffs" in our free contest.

The Cardinals benched quarterback Derek Anderson for Max Hall, who suffered a dislocated shoulder. That allowed John Skelton to make his NFL debut.

Colts quarterback Peyton Manning threw four interceptions in the first nine games of the season. Manning threw four interceptions today for the second game in a row and has 11 picks in his past three games.

Cowboys running back Tashard Choice rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown against the Colts in their overtime victory.

In the loss, Colts receiver Reggie Wayne finished with 14 receptions for a season-high 200 yards and a score. Wayne had 15 receptions for 196 yards against the Jaguars earlier in the season.

Before today's game, Seattle's Marshawn Lynch had 140 rushing yards in his past five games. Today Lynch finished with 83 rushing yards and, more impressively, three touchdowns against the Panthers.

Broken ankle ends season for rookie Dez Bryant

In today's overtime win against the Colts, Cowboys rookie receiver Dez Bryant fractured his right ankle and his season is over, per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas.

"He certainly made great strides in his rookie year," Cowboys interim head coach Jason Garrett said (via Archer). "We talked about that before with a guy that missed as much training camp as he did to make the impact that he made on our football team has been significant. He'll learn from these experiences and hopefully he'll continue to learn this year when he's out."

Although Bryant had only four receptions for 22 yards and a touchdown in his past three games, he established himself as the team's go-to receiver after the Cowboys lost quarterback Tony Romo to a broken collarbone.

It seemed as though many of the players quit on the team and on Wade Phillips with Bryant being one of the notable exceptions. During the four-game span from Week 7 to 10, Bryant had 23 receptions for 328 yards and four touchdowns.

Bryant finishes the season with 45 receptions for 561 yards and six touchdowns. He also had two return touchdowns. Only Bob Hayes had more receptions (46) in his rookie season than Bryant in franchise history.

From a fantasy perspective, I agree with Mike Clay of Pro Football Focus, who tweeted, "If you can still trade, go hard after Dez immediately in keeper leagues. This should also hurt his '11 redraft ADP..."

For the remainder of this season, however, the injury should help to boost the fantasy value of Roy Williams. Williams has exceeded two receptions and 33 yards only once in his past seven games and has no touchdowns during that span.

Percy Harvin misses third straight practice

For a third consecutive day, Vikings receiver Percy Harvin missed practice due to migraines, per Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500.

Naturally, that puts his status for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills in doubt.

Per Pelissero, Coach Leslie Frazier said yesterday that the team is "going to have a have a Plan 'B' and maybe a Plan 'C' just in case something happens with Percy or with Greg (Lewis)."

In his past two games, Harvin has been held to only 12 and 32 yards, respectively.

Seattle's Mike Williams expected to play Sunday

Although Seahawks wide receiver Mike Williams missed last week's game, Seattle expects him to play against the Panthers on Sunday.

During his past six games played, Williams has been boom or bust.

In four of those games, he finished with either double-digit receptions or 100-plus yards or both. In the other two games, Williams had either one or two receptions and 27 yards or less.

Fellow receiver Ben Obomanu has seen his receiving yards total increase over each of the past four weeks: 36, 60, 87 and 159, respectively.

The Panthers have allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season.

- Denver's Kyle Orton now has the lead in passing yards again. There is only a 49-yard difference from the leader (Orton) to the fourth-ranked quarterback (Brees).

- From Weeks 1 to 10, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning threw only four interceptions. In Weeks 11 and 12, Manning has thrown seven interceptions. On a positive note, he has also thrown for 681 yards and six touchdowns in those two games.

- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady hasn't thrown an interception since Week 6. In his last six games, he has thrown 13 touchdowns and no interceptions and has a four-game streak with two-plus touchdowns.

- Speaking of Brady, he is the featured quarterback in our free fantasy football contest for Week 13.

- It continues to be a boom-or-bust season for Giants quarterback Eli Manning. On the season, Manning has thrown two-plus touchdowns in nine games and no touchdowns in two games. He has yet to have a one-touchdown game this season. In fact, Manning has thrown two or more touchdowns in seven straight games.

Fantasy Football: Week 13 Running Back (RB) Rankings

This morning, we updated our fantasy rankings for Week 13. Here are some notes on running backs and run defenses heading into this week's games:

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - NOVEMBER 21: Arian Foster of the Houston Texans runs the ball against the New York Jets on November 21, 2010 at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images)

- For a fourth consecutive game, Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 100-plus yards. MJD faces the Titans, who allowed Foster to rush for 143 yards in Week 12, and the Raiders and Colts (who both rank in the bottom eight against the run) in his next three matchups.

- Tennessee running back Chris Johnson rushed for a career-low five yards on seven carries. However, he had a worse game from a yards-per-carry perspective in his rookie season when he rushed for eight yards on 14 carries against the Bears. In either case, he will bounce back with Kerry Collins (knock on wood) under center.

- For a second time this season, Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles finished with 22 carries and 170-something yards. This week, Charles and the Chiefs face the Broncos, who have allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. That said, Charles only had 41 yards on 14 carries in their first matchup this season.

- For three of out his past four games, Rams running back Steven Jackson has had single-digit fantasy points. This week, he faces the Cardinals, who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season.

- After a season-high 36 rushing attempts last week, Pittsburgh Rashard Mendenhall leads the NFL in rushing attempts (238). This week, the Steelers face the Ravens on Sunday night.

Fantasy Football: Week 13 Wide Receiver (WR) Rankings

This morning, we updated our fantasy rankings for Week 13. Here are some notes on wide receivers and pass defenses heading into this week's games:

SEATTLE, WA - NOVEMBER 28: Wide receiver Dwayne Bowe of the Kansas City Chiefs looks at the referee after scoring his first touchdown against Kelly Jennings of the Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field on November 28, 2010 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images)

- Despite his slow start (nine receptions for 152 yards and a touchdown in first four games), Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe has been on a tear. Bowe, who has scored in seven straight games, now has a franchise-record 14 receiving touchdowns with five games left to go. In fact, he had a better game (13-170-3) last week than he had a first quarter of the season (9-152-1).

- On Thanksgiving, Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis shut down Bengals receiver Terrell Owens -- three receptions for 17 yards. In three of the past four weeks, Revis has shut down T.O., Houston's Andre Johnson and Detroit's Calvin Johnson. Will he spend the majority of time on Wes Welker or Deion Branch this week?

- Jets receiver Santonio Holmes has 22 receptions for 360 yards and four touchdowns in his past four games.

- Speaking of Welker and Holmes, they are the featured receivers in our free fantasy football contest, which is based on Monday Night Football matchups, for Week 13.

- Since Week 6, Packers receiver Greg Jennings has five-plus receptions for 74-plus yards every week. With his 119-yard performance last week, Jennings has gone over 100 yards in three of those six games.

- Miami's Brian Hartline has had 70-plus receiving yards in four straight games. Teammate Davone Bess had a season-high 111 yards against Oakland.

- Denver's Brandon Lloyd has 23 receptions for 413 yards and six touchdowns in his past four games. The NFL receiving leader has had 70-plus yards in nine of 11 games and 50-plus yards in ten of 11 games.

- In two of his past three games, Raiders receiver Jacoby Ford has had 100-plus yards. In all of his other games this season, Ford has been held to 27 yards or less.

- Bears receiver Johnny Knox has had 50-plus receiving yards in five of six games. He just missed (49 yards) on the exception.

- Colts receiver Reggie Wayne has less than 50 yards in three of his past five games meanwhile Saints receiver Marques Colston has 100-plus yards in three of his past five games.

- After scoring six touchdowns in his previous six games, Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant was held to no receptions against the Saints last week.

Fantasy Football: Week 13 Tight End (TE) Rankings

This morning, we updated our fantasy rankings for Week 13. Here are some notes on tight ends and pass defenses heading into this week's games:

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - SEPTEMBER 13: Todd Heap of the Baltimore Ravens catches a pass over Jim Leonhard of the New York Jets during their home opener at the New Meadowlands Stadium on September 13, 2010 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images)

- Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has only two receptions in his past three games. During that same span, fellow rookie Rob Gronkowski has 11 receptions for 162 yards and three touchdowns.

- Speaking of Gronkowski, he is the featured tight end in our free fantasy football contest.

- Colts tight end Jacob Tamme has six-plus receptions and 60-plus yards in all five of his starts since teammate Dallas Clark was placed on injured reserve (IR).

- Dallas tight end Jason Witten has had 90-plus receiving yards in three of his past six games. Indianapolis, this week's opponent, has allowed the second-fewest number of fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season.

- In three of his past four games, Giants tight end Kevin Boss has scored a touchdown. With receivers Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith out this week, he should see a decent amount of targets again as Boss led the team in targets (eight) last week.

- Chicago's Greg Olsen also has scored a touchdown in three of his past four games.

Here are my top ten fantasy tight ends for Week 13:

1. Antonio Gates, Chargers (vs OAK)
