Seahawks, Sidney Rice agree to 5-year, $41 million deal

Per Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Seahawks and free-agent wide receiver Sidney Rice have agreed to a five-year deal.

The deal is worth $41 million with $18.5 million in guaranteed money and the total value of the deal can increase to $44 million, per NFL Network's Jason La Canfora.

Along with Santonio Holmes, who re-signed with the Jets today, Rice was one of the top two free-agent receivers on the market.

Rice, the Vikings' second-round pick in 2007, had a breakout year in 2009 when he finished with 83 receptions for 1,312 yards and eight touchdowns. But he finished with only 17 receptions for 240 yards in just six games after having hip surgery last August.

Unfortunately, it looks like Tarvaris Jackson (or Charlie Whitehurst) will be the one getting the ball to Rice in 2011.

On a positive note, Rice is already familiar with the system run by new Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who held the same position in Minnesota last year.

In addition, his fantasy strength of schedule improves quite a bit as the Seahawks have the fifth-easiest schedule for fantasy wide receivers based on 2010 numbers as opposed to the Vikings, which have the hardest.
