Matt Forte: 'I'm not going to really go out there and play unless I'm 100 percent'
While Bears running back Matt Forte has already been ruled out for Week 15, there seems to be virtually no chance that he'll return in Week 16 against the Packers.
Forte, who suffered a MCL sprain in Week 13 against the Chiefs, is in the final year of his contract and was not thrilled about the lack of any progress on getting a new deal.
"These injuries, they usually take four to six weeks [to heal] they say," Forte said, per Nick Friedell of ESPNChicago.com. "And this will only be week three. I'm not going to rush to get back on the field and play while I'm hurt, because you're not at 100 percent you may injure it even more if you do that."
"... I'm not going to really go out there and play unless I'm 100 percent and I can run straight ahead and sprint and make cuts, because as a running back you have to make people miss. You can't just take on hits and get pounded on. You'll have more injuries to rehab."
Before the injury, Forte was having one of his best seasons from a statistical perspective.
Despite missing games, Forte still ranks sixth in the NFL in rushing yards (997) and is third among running backs in receptions (52) and fourth in receiving yards (490).
With Forte out, Marion Barber and Khalil Bell is No. 21 and No. 36 running backs, respectively, in our Week 15 running back rankings.
