Poll of the Day: Highest total: Roy Helu's carries, Tim Tebow's carries or Tebow's pass attempts?
Four weeks ago, Redskins running back Roy Helu, the team's fourth-round pick, had only 10 carries against San Francisco's league-best run defense, but he set the franchise's single-game receptions record (14).
After that game, coach Mike Shanahan benched Helu and started Ryan Torain, who was ineffective. After two games with a light workload (single-digit carries), Helu had a career-high 23 carries last week in addition to seven receptions.
Despite his talent, the concern with Helu, who is our No. 24 running back for the week, is that Shanahan will limit his workload and frustrate fantasy owners in a way only Shanahan can.
That said, Shanahan says that Helu is "ready to be a 25-carry guy." (Before you take Shanny's word for it, remember he basically said the opposite one week earlier.)
Over his past four games, Helu has 225 rushing and 175 receiving yards, which is 100 yards from scrimmage per game.
While Helu set a career high in rushing attempts last week, so did Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow with 22 carries. Since 1960, no other quarterback has had 20-plus carries and double-digit pass attempts as Tebow did.
A few weeks ago against the Jets, Tebow threw the ball only eight times (and completed just two passes). In his six games as a starter, Tebow averaged 29 pass attempts in his first three games and only 15.3 pass attempts in his past three games.
This week, the Broncos face the Vikings, who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. So, will Tebow throw it a little more this week? Will he keep running it as much as he did last week?
What number will be highest in Week 13: Helu's carries, Tebow's carries or Tebow's pass attempts?
