Reggie Bush has been ruled out for Week 17
Over the past four weeks, no running back has rushed for more yards than Miami's Reggie Bush (519). This week, Bush and I will be tied with zero yards.
Per Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post, Bush has been ruled out for Week 17 vs. the Jets.
For the season, Bush will finish with a career-high 1,086 rushing yards, a 5.0 YPC average and six rushing touchdowns in addition to 43 receptions for 296 yards and a touchdown.
With Bush out, that means that the featured back role for the week will belong to rookie Daniel Thomas, the team's second-round pick out of Kansas State.
Thomas, who missed the games in Week 1, 4 and 8, had 41 carries for 202 yards in Weeks 2 and 3. He also caught four passes for 37 yards and a touchdown in those two games.
Since then, however, Thomas has 112 carries for 351 yards (3.13 yards per carry) and six receptions for 23 yards and no touchdowns.
In their first matchup against the Jets, Thomas had 15 carries and gained 47 yards. Bush had 10 carries for 71 yards in that game.
Perhaps Thomas will get his first rushing touchdown of the season. The Jets have allowed five rushing touchdowns in the past two weeks: LeSean McCoy (three) and Ahmad Bradshaw (two).
