Week 16 Fantasy Football: Some Waiver Wire Options for Championship Week

Several of the players on last week's waiver-wire list had double-digit fantasy points in Week 15.

One of those players was Bears running back Kahlil Bell, who led the team in carries (15) against the Seahawks. Not only did Bell finish with more than 100 yards from scrimmage, but he also led the team in both rushing (65 yards) and receiving (43 yards) while also scoring a touchdown.

With his five receptions, Bell had 21 fantasy points in point-per-reception (PPR) leagues.

Bell, who is still available in 92 percent of Yahoo! leagues, won't appear on this week's list. Neither will Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas or Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey since all three of these players were on last week's list. However, all three players are worth adding.

In addition to being valuable to fantasy owners (based on talent and/or opportunity), there are two criteria that we use for a player to be eligible for our list: (1) they weren't on the previous week's list and (2) they are owned in 50 percent or less of Yahoo! leagues.

Here are some waiver-wire options that may be able to help your team (Yahoo! ownership percentage in parenthesis):

QB - Matt Moore, Dolphins (owned in 18 percent of Yahoo! leagues): Since Week 9, Moore has an 11:2 touchdown-to-interception ratio although he has thrown a total of only five touchdowns in his past four games. Moore has yet to have a 300-yard game this season although the Patriots have allowed nine 300-yard games. In fact, the Dolphins (Chad Henne) have one of the two 400-yard games allowed by the Patriots this season.

RB - Donald Brown, Colts (22 percent): For the second time in his career and the first time this season, Brown rushed for more than 100 yards last week. Brown finished with a career-high 161 yards and a touchdown and he has scored in three of his past four games. While the Colts have a tougher matchup against the Texans this week, Brown is available in about three-quarters of fantasy leagues.

RB - Christopher Ivory, Saints (four percent): Depending on the status of Mark Ingram for Week 16, Ivory could be in position to lead the team carries again. Or he could be inactive. Both Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas had more fantasy points than Ivory, but Ivory led the team in carries (18) last week. Ivory has 13-plus carries and 53-plus yards in the past three games in which he has played.

WR - Nate Burleson, Lions (42 percent): Since the team's bye (Week 9), Burleson has five or more receptions in five of six games. In four of those six games, Burleson has at least nine fantasy points in standard-scoring leagues. During that six-game span, Burleson has 35 receptions for 384 yards and two touchdowns. That is 64 yards per game compared with only 30.6 in his first eight games of the season.

WR - Greg Little, Browns (15 percent): As bad as the Browns offense has been, it would be difficult to rely on any Browns player in Championship Week against the Ravens. That said, Little had a career-high 131 yards and a touchdown on five receptions last week. Little, who has scored twice in his past four games, leads the team in receptions (57) and receiving yards (669) this season.

WR - Andre Roberts, Cardinals (two percent): Roberts scored for the second week in a row and has double-digit fantasy points in two of his past three games. Going back to Week 9, Roberts has five or more fantasy points in six of seven games. If you're in a deeper league, Roberts is worth consideration.

WR - Randall Cobb, Packers (14 percent): In his past two games, Cobb has at least 45 yards in each game. While Jordy Nelson is clearly the team's best option at receiver while Greg Jennings is out, Cobb has more receiving yards (93) than Donald Driver (82) or James Jones (46) during that two-game span.

TE - Brent Celek, Eagles (37 percent): Celek saved his best game of his career for Week 15 as he finished with five receptions for 156 yards and a touchdown. It was the fifth 100-yard game of his career but the first this season for Celek. In his past eight games, Celek has 41 receptions for 558 yards and two touchdowns. During that eight-game span, Celek has had at least 50 receiving yards six times.

Our Week 16 rankings (including point-per-reception (PPR) and flex rankings) will be available by Wednesday at TheTipDrill.com, our fantasy section.
