Chargers RB Ryan Mathews possibly part of a rotation?
Over his first three seasons in the league, Chargers running back Ryan Mathews has missed a total of 10 games including four last season.
If Mathews stays healthy for a full season — and we all know that is a big "if," Mathews may provide fantasy owners with a new problem.
Unlike under previous head coach Norv Turner, who wanted to give Mathews a heavy workload, new head coach Mike McCoy could employ a rotation or running back by committee.
“I’ve been raised with (Denver head coach) John Fox in this league,” said McCoy, per Alex Marvez of Fox Sports. “We always played with a couple of backs. It doesn’t matter who’s in there. Keep them fresh. That’s the big thing. Play the hot hand while you roll. If you’ve got to tap out for a play or two, we’ll put the next guy in.”
In my fantasy running back rankings, Mathews and Woodhead are currently my 27th- and 48th-ranked fantasy running backs, respectively.
