Jeremy Maclin carted off with a possible ACL injury

Football is a violent sport with crushing collisions, but in many cases it's the non-contact injuries that are the worst.

After sustaining an injury as he began to run a route, Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin was unable to put any pressure on his right leg and carted off the field, per Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com.

Per this tweet from Jordan Raanan of NJ.com, it might be a torn ACL:

Of course, there's never a good time to suffer a potentially season-ending injury during training camp. Four years into his five-year rookie deal, however, the timing couldn't be much worse.

Yet to reach the 1,000-yard milestone in his career, Maclin expected to get a more prominent role within Chip Kelly's offense — and now he may not play a snap in his final year before free agency.

In my fantasy wide receiver rankings, which I will update within the next 24 hours, I had Maclin ranked ahead of DeSean Jackson. With the injury, Jackson's fantasy value will obviously increase as will Jason Avant, Damaris Johnson, Riley Cooper and Arrelious Benn.

Update: It's confirmed that Maclin has a torn ACL and he will miss the entire season.
