Robert Griffin III says that he has been cleared by doctors
Throughout the offseason, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has seemed to be a step (or two or many) ahead of schedule in the rehabilitation of his surgically-repaired knee.
Recent reports indicated that his knee felt "great" and that he expected to be ready for the start of camp.
Based on a tweet from RG3 himself today, he has been cleared by the doctors:
Doctors cleared me to practice. Coach is going to ease me in. Thank you for your support & See you in Richmond— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) July 22, 2013
The Redskins report to camp on Wednesday and will hold their first workout on Thursday. In addition, RG3 has an extra day to get ready for the season opener as the Redskins face the Eagles on Monday Night Football (Sept. 9th).
In my updated fantasy quarterback rankings, Griffin III is my seventh-ranked quarterback.
Griffin III, who was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, threw for 3,200 yards, 20 touchdowns and five touchdowns and ran for 815 yards and seven touchdowns last year.
While I don't expect him to run as many times (120 attempts) as he did last year, he should throw more than 393 pass attempts and will have healthier versions of Pierre Garcon and Fred Davis as weapons.
