The Wednesday Blitz: News, Notes and Links from Around the NFL

Bryan Burwell of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch writes that "[his] money’s on" new tight end Jared Cook to be Sam Bradford's new security blanket.

In tracking quarterback snaps in an 11-on-11 session, Mark Gaughan of the Buffalo News notes that Bills quarterback Kevin Kolb had more snaps than rookie E.J. Manuel. He also notes that "Manuel arguably threw the ball better than Kolb."

Packers running back DuJuan Harris is still another two to three weeks away from practicing.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports writes that Chiefs wide receiver group is "in doubt" after Dwayne Bowe and that "Jon Baldwin hasn't torn things up by any stretch, and will have to show something in the preseason games to stave off the mounting label of bust."

Patriots rookie wide receiver Aaron Dobson will return to practice on Thursday after taking a cleat to the ankle on Monday night. (The Patriots have today off.)

So far, it's been Anquan Boldin (no surprise) and Chad Hall that have been the 49ers' two most productive wide receivers in camp yesterday, per Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.

Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw is expected to miss another couple of weeks and may not play in the preseason.

Phillip B. Watson of the Indianapolis Star wrote the following yesterday: "TE Coby Fleener and WR T.Y. Hilton were outstanding yesterday. Let’s see if we notice those second-year performers more. It’s often been said NFL players grow the most from the first to the second years. You had the feeling last year about both of these guys that the Colts could get more out of them."

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah on new Colts receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey: "Struggled...not on the same page with Luck at this time."

Lions coach Jim Schwartz on tight end Brandon Pettigrew: "Brandon looks as good as I've ever seen him physically."

Undrafted free-agent wide receiver Joe Anderson is making a strong case to make the Bears roster.
