Ed Dickson (hamstring) to sit out "a week or so"
After suffering a slight hamstring tear at practice on Sunday, the team is going to play it safe and sit him out for a "week or so."
“We’re going to hold him back for a week or so, and we’ll see where we’re at,” (coach John) Harbaugh said (via the team's website). “We’ll try to get him healthy. It’s going to be a matter of time, but it’s not going to be a long time.”
Without Dickson (and Pitta, of course) for the team's first preseason game, that means that Visanthe Shiancoe, who signed with the team a week ago, will get the start on Thursday.
In the same draft class (2010) that the Patriots drafted Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, the Ravens also selected Pitta and Dickson. In fact, they selected Dickson (Round 3, No. 70) a round earlier than Pitta (Round 4, No. 114).
Dickson, who is my 19th-ranked fantasy tight end, had only 21 receptions for 225 yards and no touchdowns in 2012.
