Jordy Nelson out 4-6 weeks after having knee surgery
Per Schefter, Nelson's timetable is four to six weeks although he's expected to be ready for the season opener against the 49ers on September 8th (see schedule).
Of course, those two statements are not necessarily consistent.
If he misses exactly five weeks from the date of the surgery, he would be ready on Monday, September 9th — one day after the team's opener. Six weeks would have him miss two games, obviously.
Following his breakout season in 2011 (68/1,263/15), Nelson dealt with various injuries and missed four games in 2012 as his production (49/745/7) dropped off.
After losing his left tackle Bryan Bulaga for the season to a torn ACL, Aaron Rodgers will now potentially be without one of the team's top two receivers for a week or two to start the year. In addition, the team's other top receiver, Randall Cobb, left practice with a shoulder injury, but he appears to be day-to-day.
In my preseason fantasy rankings, Cobb, Nelson and James Jones are my 12th-, 15th- and 33rd-ranked wide receivers, respectively. I will likely bump Nelson down a couple of spots in my next update considering his potential to miss the first game or two.
