La Canfora: Steelers projecting Le'Veon Bell to be out 6-8 weeks

Earlier today, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported that Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell had a Lisfranc injury and that the team hoped that Bell could avoid surgery.

Based on a tweet from CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, it appears that Bell will avoid surgery as doctors are projecting that he will miss six-to-eight weeks with rest.

If Bell is able to return after six, even eight, weeks, that would be good news considering surgery would likely wipe out his entire rookie season. Six weeks from today is October 2nd and eight weeks from today is October 16th.

The Steelers have their bye in Week 5, which means they play the Vikings on Sept. 29th and then play again on the 13th against the Jets. [See Steelers' 2013 schedule here.]

Assuming a full eight-week timetable, that would have him return to face the Ravens in Week 7 on October 20th and he would then miss only five regular-season games.
