Victor Cruz in walking boot and on crutches, expects to be ready for opener
Against the Colts on Sunday Night Football, Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz left the game with a bruised heel.
While the MRI showed no tears, it showed "some blood in there," per Ebenezer Samuel of the NY Daily News.
In addition, Cruz is currently in a walking boot and using crutches, but he expects to be ready for the opener against the Cowboys — and back on the practice field before that.
“I hope so. I hope so. Hopefully, I can be back before then,” Cruz said (via Samuel). “But I do see myself, envision myself out here on the practice field, getting ready for that Cowboys game, getting ready to go down to Texas to play those guys. That’s what I do envision.”
Over the past two seasons, Cruz has a total of 168 receptions for 2,628 yards and 19 touchdowns. Only four receivers have more receiving yards during that span: Calvin Johnson (3,645), Wes Welker (2,923), Brandon Marshall (2,722) and Roddy White (2,647).
Cruz is currently my 11th-ranked fantasy wide receiver heading into the 2013 season.
